I think Gleaming was on a carriage for a while. Presumably they traveled for a while beforehand and got within teleportation range. That being said, the time frame/distance to Twilight's castle is a bit unclear.
Other than that, interesting chapter. I liked the touch with Gleaming adjusting to her new body psychologically and Cadance manipulating her a fair bit to get it accomplished.

Since when can Gleaming Shield teleport halfway across Equestria? Twilight can barely do that and she's an Alicorn, and was always more powerful than Shining when she was a unicorn. There's no way Gleaming is that powerful. Remember her talent is creating magical shields, not magic in general; that's Twilight.

Quite a few of the characters here are very ooc. I doubt Cadance would be that mad over Shining turning into a mare, and while he might be that mad, Celestia and Luna likely wouldn't as well. Twilight would never send her little brother into the Everfree at night, she nearly lost it searching for him when he went in on his own. And while I don't mind the Rarilight shipping, I would like to see it more fleshed out.
