Throughout her reign, Princess Celestia has tried to make Equestria a land of peace, where those from all walks of life can live together in harmony. But, with all the things that have been occurring in the wider world lately, sentiments are changing. Of particular worry to her are the images that have started appearing within Canterlot, which she decides to personally inspect.

Geez, that's gotta be a tough situation to be in...
Though i feel like i can resonate with the Griffinstone one.

Nice! Is this from your own built universe or the future or something?

The thing is, the posters are getting things mostly right: the Lunars are here to take over Equestria one way or another, they have proven to use spies (Trixie), "Queen" Gabby is a puppet, and I have no doubt Moon has been using her oneiromancy to gather intel among Equestria. Celestia would had to be blind to ignore it.

Of course, "river scrambled, fishermen gain"; the Lunars will benefit from this situation on the long run while presenting themselves blameless victims.

Proganda's main goal is to rally a group to a cause. While this sometimes has been done by spreading fear, there is sometimes truth to said fear.

That said, trying to invoke HATE with a nation your ruler is trying to make peace with is not a good idea.

Let's be honest here. Equestria is kinda shit. Politicians care more about their status and upcoming elections than the law. Most Royal Guards couldn't fight their way out of a wet paper bag, let alone handle a real threat and are even willing to be bought out to threaten the citizens they are charged to protect. The previous Griffon King was worse at ruling a nation than even the guards were at being guards. If it wasn't for that Spy, Changelings would have Twilight Sparkle right now.... and she'd probably be dead as what is one ponies life when weighed against the rest of an entire race who broke away from their tyrannical ruler to a new, more benevolent one.

Also, even those who Luna has wronged in the past accept what she has done now even if they are not happy about it as we saw with Tirek's father.

I am willing to bet MANY of the things I mentioned are not issues in the Lunar Republic, if any at all. Also, the Lunar's are shown to be more willing to cooperate and get along than Equestria who have shown themselves to be outright xenophobic. For a land of peace, harmony, acceptance, ect. They sure do not practice what they preach.

Oh sure they are more tolerable. You just have to submit everything to a ruler who is cold and distant, guards who likely planned on kicking your ass anyways, and even your neighbors because they are likely assassins prepared to slit your damn throat. All because Luna threw a temper tantrum and never really got over it. I was honestly going to consider giving these storylines a chance but now I see that they do nothing but stroke Luna's ego and try and go grey for her 'tragic' loss. I am actually 100% done with them.

I'm sorry to say but the status quo has been established, Equestria is weak, Celestia is dumb, Luna is best, friendship is weakness. I am disappointed at the one sided depictions here. None of the flaws of the Lunar Republic are addressed, and any positives about Equestrian are framed as failings. A peaceful nation doesn't last for a thousand years by being weak pushovers. Celestia logically had to be doing something right.

8474242 Submit or be glazed by solar flare. After a while fear stops having the controlling qualities that those in power like about it and eventually start the hackles of the oppressed rising.

It is better to die free than live as a slave.

The question now is, which side is the least oppressive as both are oppressors.

Wars of ideology, while bloodless, are nevertheless difficult. As long as good ponies make a stand - with reason and wisdom - stone-age sentiments needn't grow in strength.

I'd like to see a Lunar Republic vs Solar Empire fic where both of the sisters are oblivious about everything until SHTF.

I said it before, this version of Luna reminds me to Superman in Injustice: Gods Among Us the comic, back when he was still forming his Regime in order to "bring peace to Earth".
Still, Celestia┬┤s passivity to the events irks me too.

Jay I'm sorry but there comes a time when you have to admit when this whole grey storyline you're trying is heavily one-sided and biased. At first I could give you the benefit of a doubt.... but then the side-stories started giving Luna more and more shit.... portraying her as right while ignoring the shit she's done and making Equestria, THE PEACEFUL SEEKING, RULED FOR A THOUSAND YEARS UNDER PEACE BY CELESTIA COUNTRY, your damn punching bag for the reason of trying to push The Lunar Republic into Protagonist territory...... when they have done nothing to earn that.

8475291
I'm more irked by the fic still making the Lunar Republic seem 'grey' or 'just as good if not better' then Equestria.

It would make sense if the Lunar Kingdom is "stronger" by virtue its residents having to deal daily with Everfree' Monsters and dangers, forcing them to become disciplined and militaristic. All Luna's plan to create an army powerful enough to take whatever horror scared her (as Tia mentioned back in her meeting with Tirek's father).
At the same time Equestria would be a far better place to live since Celestia has focused most of her efforts into improve her subjects's life standards, giving them freedoms and luxuries the Lunars never would consider.

Yes BUT the limits Luna is going to are ridiculous and extremely dangerous for the aftermath.

The sad thing is Celestia doesn't even refute any of the claims of the "Propaganda". Gabby is a straight up puppet queen, and if Luna had her way she would conquer Equestria and Celestia would be nothing more then her prisoner.

8475341 This is a really good point, and I think the author is going for that. The problem is, we never seem to get a look at the day to day life of the average pony in Horse Korea or whatever the name of the Lunar Republic is, we only see their invincible ruler or highly-disciplined soldiers. What you have between Equestria and the Lunar Republic is a classic Guns versus Butter debate, and the Guns side is always going to look better if you only show the military.

8476608
And as a Puppet Queen she is a more effective ruler than her father who, when it came to rogue griffons who went and committed crimes in Equestria and likely go back to the Griffon Kingdom to lay low, basically goes "Well, what the fuck do you expect me to do about it?" and seemed more pissed by the fact his daughter by doing this showed how much of in incompetent ruler he was.
