#7- Your Highness... I Can Explain.

Toby's POV

I danced up the many stairs to the front gate singing my heart out while the Crusaders squealed on my back. Rarity and Fluttershy were giggling as I raved to to the front door before putting the crusaders down.

"You're funny Mr. Toby!" said Sweetie Belle

"Please, its just Toby."

Rarity and Fluttershy caught up with us before we entered the huge gate. Before long we were all entering the Throne room and I beheld a peeved Applejack coming toward us. I halted mid-stride.

This. Could end Badly. Hiding now.

I whirled about and wrapped my scarf around my face. I stood stock still and pretended to be a lamp.

"Applebloom! What are you doing here missy?! You're supposed to be at home with Ma!"

Applebloom's her sister?! Im in deep crap now.

"W-well, we met Mr. Toby-"

Dont you dare-

"-and he invited us along."

You little tattletale.

My scarf was suddenly yanked off my head and I was staring into the eyes of a ticked farmer. I managed to keep my lower face covered still.

"H-heeeeeeyy, Applejack! Didn't, uh, see you there?"

"Mind explaining why you brought The Crusaders here?"

"I... met them. We talked, I invited them along. Did I do a bad?"

"Yes. VERY."

"Sorry, sorry.... Itwonthappenagain."

I leaned back.

Whump!

My shoulders hit the floor and I backpedaled like mad to slide over to the rest of the girls. I skidded to a stop beside Rainbow Dash. 'Save me' I whispered. She laughed. I have no idea how to deal with angry family. I'm fast, not indestructible. The Crusaders' giggles were quickly silenced with a glare from Applejack. She was about to send them off when-

"You three can stay, it's fine Applejack."

I turned to the throne and saw a taller Mare with a glistening green, blue, pink, and purple mane and a crown atop her head.

I'm saved.

Applejack seemed incredulous for a moment but finally let it go with a puff. I jumped up and hurriedly bowed before the Royalty Figure, remembering to take off my hat.

"Please, no need for such things. You are a guest, not a noble. I am Celestia."

I popped back up and slapped my hat on again, somewhat nervous for some reason. She gave an amused smile before getting down to business.

"Now then, what is your given name?"

"The Mad Tinker is my title. My given name is Toby."

A small scribbling sound was audible. I glanced about and spotted a small, green and purple, scaly... thing, beside Twilight with a quill and paper.

"No last name?"

"Err... that is something only known by my parents your Highness. I was too young to remember it before-"

"That world-changing event? Twilight informed me of your past."

"Uh, Yes. BT-dubs Twilight, don't be telling everybody my past."

She shrugged and apologized.

"And once more for the record, do you have any ill intentions against anypony?"

"Not at all. I've made... friends? That feels strange coming out of my mouth."

"Oh dear," She sighed, "We'll just have to refresh your mind on how to have friends once more. Twilight?"

"Yes, your Majesty?"

"You and your friends have a new mission for now. Instruct our new friend in the ways of our world and remind him of what friends are. I expect great results."

Twilight bowed her head and smiled.

"Also,"

We looked back at Celestia.

"Keep him out of trouble. He didn't even realize he could have been arrested for foal-napping."

I shrugged sheepishly.

"Sorry again?"

She gave a soft laugh before glancing at Twilight's friend/scribe. He took the cue and walked over with a film camera. I quickly saw where this was going.

"Can you-"

"I know it doesn't really hide my appearance anymore, but I keep my scarf on at all times until I trust people. Old habits die hard."

Celestia was a little confused but went with it.

"Well, alright. I suppose it is a bit hard to hide your identity, seeing as you're the only human in our world. Go ahead and take the picture Spike."

So that's his name.

I posed cheekily with a peace sign in one hand and my other tipping my hat to the camera. A bright flash, and he was done. He took out the picture and rolled into the scroll before giving the whole thing to Celestia.

"Thank you Spike. You're dismissed."

"Thank you miss Celestia."

He had a surprisingly childish voice. Hurgh, memories. I DOES NOT WANT! I DOES NOT WANT!

Shaking it off, I turned back to the conversation. Twilight and the girls said their goodbyes and I did an extravagant bow with a hat twirl. I got the Royal Mare to laugh again as we turned to leave. I scooped up The Crusaders suddenly, causing squeals of delight and laughter. Applejack looked back at me.

"Dont get my sister hurt, or else."

I put on my best posh accent, getting giggles from the foals in my arms.

"I wouldn't dream of it m'lady. May we, with your omnipotent approval, take a merry jaunt down to the town square? I give you my sincerest promise that no harm will come to the wee lass."

A cry came from Applebloom.

"Hey! I'm not that small!"

She glared into my blue eyes for a moment. Then she cracked a smile.

"Fine. I'm the element of Honesty after all. I can tell when somepony's lying. Don't leave 'em alone, 'ya hear?Wait for us when 'ya get there."

"Of course, permission to use a tad of my infamous speed?"

"Eh... Why not? Might give us'n idea of how well ya'll can control it."

"Huzzah! You ready girls!?"

A chorus of "YEAH!" came from the group.

Applejack yelled another warning.

"Be careful!"

I loaded them onto my shoulders again and turned toward the massive flight of steps.

"Hold tight! 'Cause here! We! GOOOOooooo!!!!!"

I took one powerful step and was instantly 5 ft forward, over the top three steps. I dropped down and sprinted down the hill at a ridiculous pace, laughter trailing behind me. The girls were awestruck at my ease of step and the astonishing pace.

(Fluttershy's POV)

He sprinted straight down the stairs so quickly! I hope nobody gets hurt. But the Crusaders love him, and I can tell he lives to his fullest in their company. I can just tell that about some ponies. Rainbow Dash is naturally reckless, But Toby knows what he's doing. I went to calm the worrying Applejack.

"Hey, they'll be fine. You could see it to couldn't you? He would sooner die than let those three get hurt. He adores them, and they do the same. He may not be the best influence right now, but he'll get better."

"I could tell he wasn't lying, but thanks Fluttershy. You're a dear."

Rainbow Dash had already zoomed off after them, leaving the rest of us to take the long way down. I knew they were going to be fine. Toby, even though he didn't look it, was actually a very careful pony... Oh wait, human. I'm going to have to get used to that.
