Epilogue: A Warning
Lightning Dust took in the scenery around her. Cloudsdale was burning. Banners and flags barring her face hung from every smoldering building. The heads of the Wonderbolts, including Rainbow Dash, were mounted on pikes. And Lightning herself stood in the midst of it all, smiling at the carnage.
"Lightning Dust!"
Lightning's smile faded as she turned to see the Moon Princess descending from the sky.
Luna stopped a few yards away from Lightning Dust, keeping to the sky. "Lightning Dust, you must cease with this horrid fantasies."
Lightning narrowed her eyes. "This is my dream, princess. What I think about is none of your concern."
"The well-being of my subjects is my concern." Luna retorted. "I have come to warn you to stay far away from Cloudsdale and Ponyville until you learn to control your demons."
"And why should I?"
"Because I've been there. I allowed my demons to get the better of me and I ended up hurting the pony I care about the most and almost ended up doing much worse."
Lightning rolled her eyes. "Yeah, everypony knows about Nightmare Moon. Honestly, I don't know why you even went back to being Princess Luna. It doesn't make any sense."
"Oh?" Luna glared at the pegasus. "How so?"
"You could have had it all." Lightning explained. "You could have had the world to yourself and you threw it away like a fool! See, unlike you prissy 'friendship is magic' ponies, I know how the world really is and I know how things are supposed to be."
"And how is it supposed to be?"
"Why not ask Nightmare Moon?" Lightning mockingly suggested. "She had the idea."
Luna slowly nodded. "I see. Well, you have very clearly demonstrated the type of pony you are and it is clear to me that there is no breaking through to you at this time. But I repeat, you are forbidden from coming within a mile of Ponyville or Cloudsdale. The consequences for doing so will be severe."
Lightning narrowed her eyes at the alicorn.
Luna looked to the horrific display of the Wonderbolts and lit her horn.
Lightning looked behind her and saw the Wonderbolts all in one piece with glowing red eyes glaring right at her.
"Consider this a warning." Luna said simply.
Lightning screamed and she flew away as she was tailed by the demonic Wonderbolts.
Luna smirked and moved on to the next dream.

Well, anyway, I don't see how any of this stuff relates to the story.
Nothing really I just find it kinda strange that the Mane six get free passes on they're behavior even when it causes harm to others, but others like LD get the book after one mistake.

But i remember an episode saying that the Wonderbolts are technically a military branch. The stunt performances are a side thing in times of peace, comparable to when an air force would use its aircraft for occasional performances.
Interesting concept, though I'm honestly not sure what to make of this version of LD.
What interested me was seeing RD vulnerable, that for all her bravado. That she isn't invincible, but she isn't alone, she has friends and family who will be there to support her in her time of need through thick and thin compared to LD who is a singular average Pegasus mare that RD could kick her ass in a millisecond.
Though the second chapter feels a bit lackluster for the length and abruptness of the ending. I was expecting a little more from the conversation between LD and Luna.

Well, simply put, this version of Lightning Dust is a monster... or at least has the potential to become one.
As for the second chapter, it was just an epilogue, which is why it was so short. It's just there to show Luna trying to reason with Lightning and teach her a lesson when she proves to be unreasonable.
Anyway, I'm glad you liked how I portrayed RD here and that was certainly what I was going for.
By the way, what did you think of the dream sequence at the beginning? Were you fooled? Or did you pick up on the signs before Luna showed up?

Well, I'm glad you didn't know it was a dream at first. It means the twist worked.
Anyway, if what you're getting at is LD has some dream realm powers, that's not the case. It's just that Rainbow's subconscious suddenly realized that she had made an enemy of a morally bankrupt and potentially dangerous person, causing her to have a dream that displayed the worst case scenario.

When I began reading this, I was ready to set torches ablaze, seek out Lightning, and kill her. Entirely. Given how sympathetic you made Starlight in comparison, this definitely surprised me; not in a good or bad way mind you, I was just blindly seething with madness and longing to destroy that Scootaloo-killing demon.
So I was super released when I learned that it was just a dream, and Luna pretty much took care of everything. Which is good, I need more fics of Luna in a good light without people justifying her role as Nightmare Moon.
Never before have I been so glad to see a twist in a story in my life!
and I'll be honest, in spite Lightning's unsympathetic portrayal, I definitely like this fic more than Starlight's Hellfire (still loved that one, just, again, one glaring religious flaw is keeping me from putting it in my favorites...)
