This was very nice. I don't usually enjoy these "two ponies have a philosophical discussion" stories, but this is one that doesn't feel too heavy-handed and more like an actual conversation RD and Fluttershy would have. It was sweet and, yeah, I'd call it uplifting. I also think it was wise to leave off the question of an afterlife.
My one minor complaint is the idea of Luna killing some ponies during her brief existence as Nightmare Moon. It makes me wonder about what kind of guilt Luna would be dealing with if anypony had actually died. The story about White Tail Woods could probably work just as well with Celestia wanting to establish a graveyard to help ponies deal with their losses since she'd just lost Luna.
But still, that's a very very minor point. Overall, I really enjoyed this little tale. Nice work!
Apart from the theme, which is a bit unusual but certainly interesting, that's some really solid dialogue here. The conversation feels very "alive", and it's been a long time since I've enjoyed a short story this much

Thanks! I have a bunch of stories that deal with the Nightmare Moon incident, and its results, sitting in a Google Docs folder waiting to be finished and/or edited. Once I get those out, I will put them in the same universe as this.

Well, that's fine and all, but it doesn't help first time readers of this story who aren't familiar with your expanded universe. Still, as I said, my complaint is relatively minor.
