You know, I can think of a few dozen scenarios that would make this the preferable option to Gilda herself keeping the baby, but I still want to smack her for how she went about this.
It's not the worst way to handle the issue, but it's solidly in the bottom half of the list.

A short comment on word usage, though: you wrote that Rainbow Dash lied in bed. She lay in bed, actually. There's a progression to these things. If it's present tense, you lie. You're lying, really. Past tense, lay. If you did it to something/one else, you've laid, but if it's present tense and you're doing it to something/one else, you lay. Confused? It is a bit, but usually, you'll only use the past tense about yourself, so it'll just be lay ;)

So RD goes from being adamant that she can't do this to adamant that she can solely as an 'I'll show you!' moment? No disrespect, but that's a bit hard to swallow. Egotistical or not, RD wouldn't just change her mind on something that big that fast.
Considering that's the only issue I have with this chapter, I definitely want to see more.

Again, the proper word is 'lay.' Though I imagine RD may have 'laid' the small griffon there, the fact that he's there of his own will means that 'lay' is the correct word :)

I know it's tempting to be discouraged, but never think that way about your writing. Even if you've got all the worst comments in the world (which isn't true, a lot of people like this story) then it's only room for improvement!
