Alicorn_Avionics

E

Twilight Sparkle is usually content with all four hooves on the ground, but she sails into the field of aeronautics after a pompous pegasus insults the magical abilities of all unicorns. Sure, she can make a set of wings, but she'll have to earn a set as well.

Very special thanks to my friend Ashley Marie Dauma for her incredible description of Corsair and her ongoing editing work!

Wow. Somepony has been too shut into his office and missed all the Hearth's Warming memos over the past few centuries! Just about pitch perfect foil to set off Twi's unstoppable side. Looking forward to more of this =D

Pinkie Pie needs to be set on this guy, he seriously needs a party! :twilightoops:

This looks like it will end well. :yay:

'Corsair U.F. Vought IV' I see what you did there change some words around and you get the Vought F4U Corsair a great World War 2 naval fighter. It was one of the fastest prop plane of the war. And one of the toughest both to fly and to shot down.

AWSOME!! update soon? *sniffle* ah ain't one fer patience but ah love a good story an' this one got me hooked

930008 I'll update as soon as I can, although it might take awhile. Glad to see you love it! :yay:

902205 I was wondering if anyone would catch that. :rainbowwild: Keep a lookout for more aeronautical references later on, some will be more hidden than others!

To everyone else: Wow! I had no idea it would so well-received, it being my first piece and all! Thank you all for the faves!

I caught the plane references you've put in so far, and i must say it's a good list of planes.

Vaught F4U Corsair
SR-71 Blackbird
F-35 Lightning II
P-38 Lightning
P-51 Mustang

You really loading the story with planes and plane topics cameos/cookies? you know that? Skunkworks as in Northrop which design the SR-71 Blackbird? Two WW2 planes, P-38 Lighting a twin-engine fighter design by the same man who design the Blackbird if I remember right. And the north American P-51 MUSTANG, on the fastest, agilest, longest range fighter of the war. And lots not forget the F-35 Lighting ll also known as the joint strike fighter that is JUST coming in production I believe. Huh, you don't need to figure out one for the Supermarine SPITFIRE if you know what it mean.

"Aw, ponyfeathers!"

:rainbowlaugh::rainbowlaugh::rainbowlaugh::rainbowlaugh::rainbowlaugh:

lol i like this chapter XDD will she become a real alicorn? if not, will those wings acctually work?

OK, that guy is a total flankhole. In fact, he is so bad, I'm almost ready to change my OC. Almost.
And that must have hurt, Dash.

Wikipedia has this to say on the single SR-71C: SR-71C was a hybrid aircraft composed of the rear fuselage of the first YF-12A (S/N 60-6934) and the forward fuselage from a SR-71 static test unit. The YF-12 had been wrecked in a 1966 landing accident. This Blackbird was seemingly not quite straight and had a yaw at supersonic speeds. It was nicknamed "The Bastard".

That said, it was the "C" designation that made my jaw drop.

933620 Alright, I'll admit it, I went a little overboard with the references in the second chapter. :facehoof: As for the ol' British warbird, I don't intend to leave her out of this completely. :raritywink:

934076 Well, I can't really answer that one, now can I? :rainbowwild: I don't want to spoil anything!

Okaaaay. That's just a little creepy there, Rarity.:rainbowderp:

You know, I just realized the correlations between Tony Stark and Twilight in this. "They said it could't be done, so I did it." Not to mention the similarities between the first test of the wings/flight suit.

I wonder how many different designs she's going to use before she finds one that works.

Also I hate the Corsair guy :P

I can just imagine her flying:

"YA SEE ME ROLLIN' "
