When you find a fleur de lis x human story that's fine and at reasonable length, but then you find out that it's anthro and just wasted 5 minutes of your life reading the first chapter:

This is just a personal preference, but I think that having the ponies be anatomically correct allows the reader to integrate themselves into the story more, and it just makes it more realistic. I mean, the reason I read fanfics is to escape from normal literature, and if everything is human, then that kind of defies the point.
