Okay, you definitely got points for the Calvin and Hobbes reference.
Even the childhood innocence was spot on. (spoilers for readers) Gotta say, though, the random SunLight shipping just kinda doesn't do it for me. I get that you needed an ending, but you probably could have just done it with some kind of sweet epiphany scene at the end instead of a marriage proposal. I don't think the romance was necessary. Especially if C&H was the main inspiration, it kind of takes away from the utter goofiness of it all. Just my opinion, though. Upvote regardless.

2. I'm glad you appreciated the fic, and yes I had trouble with the ending just a little. Still satisfied with it, and it was made for a friend who really was having a rough day so I'm glad I at least made a few people's day with it too. if I revisit this universe, I'll probably have something just as fun planned.
I have to say that this is a GREAT fanfic, I never thought that anyone could ever make a Calvin and Hobbes/MLP-FIM fanfic like this, and with Twilight and Smartypants as Calvin and Hobbes was so PERFECT.

In general, I enjoyed it. This story is basically the antithesis of Sandbox in terms of concept. It's interesting to see Sunset softened by a young filly and to see their dynamic build over multiple interactions. But the ending was far too abrupt for my taste. I don't really see how the story lead to that; it feels like I'm missing something. It's not that this type of ending can't work, but as presented it just doesn't.

That's fine. To be honest, I kind of rushed it out the door. It was a gift for a friend and I wanted to help ease their day, so it's basically short enough for them to read without slogging through pages of interaction. There's an implied "Weeks of interaction happened" but yeah. Thanks for the thoughts on it though.
God that brings back memories of reading those comic strips when I was a kid. I have all of the book collects and I still read them sometimes.

Okay, this was absolutely adorable.
And apparently unlike most of those in the comments, I have absolutely no problems with the ending...
Though personally, I think it would have worked better if Twilight had revealed it before Sunset realized Twilight was asking her to marry her. Just my opinion.

Im sad that I never had the chance to read those comics until recently....where the hell have I been? I read one of the books at my dentist's ffice of all places and instanrly fell in love with them, got the box set and read them all...and man was I amazed...
So when I saw the title in the popular stories box I knew something good was bound to be here...and I was not dissapointed.

I'm glad you enjoyed it, and yes, Calvin and Hobbes is a classic. It's basically timeless at this point, and holds a special place in people's hearts. I grew up with it, reading it every day in my local newspaper until that sad day when it ended syndication. It's really too bad that Watterson will never emerge from the hole he's hidden from the world in but we can always dream of a new Calvin and Hobbes storyline that's inspired so many.
