IT'S OKAY TO BE MECHANICAL.

How did you manage to get this approved when it was denied the first time?

“Seems like hero vs. hero is kind of a trend these days.” Sunset remarked, thinking of the recent spat of big-budget, CGI-enhanced, super-hyped blow outs where two good guys fight each other for tenuous reasons, only to team back up to fight an actual villain.

Rainbow laughed, “Hey, who’s complaining?”

“The internet.” Shimmer huffed under her breath.

MY SIDES! AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA :rainbowlaugh:

Genius man, genius!

See the description, crossover character
https://www.fimfiction.net/story/121836/49/the-bridge-a-godzilla-mlp-crossover/christmas-special-2016-mirror-gigan-saves-christmas

8118610 Yep. There was a reason I called the prologue: "the meta". did you catch the Simpsons reference?

Wait, is this scene taking place in the regular Equestrian Girls world and not the mirror universe? Because in The Bridge's Valentine's Day special, Rainbow Dash already read a comic featuring the regular Mane-iac, Gigan, Megalon, and Irys as humans.

8123665 Uhmm.........:rainbowderp:. I'll get back to you on that.

8123665 Checked with Tarb, "The Meta" takes place in the same EG world as the one from "Bridge" proper.

I speculate Shadowbolt is weakened by light, based on the microscope exam.

I'm kinda confused by all the human names mixed with pony names, but I can live with it.

Another fine chapter by our Magnificent Machine, though i was surprised when ShadowBolt was revealed to be Thomas Jacobs and not Gary Straub since Gary was an Engineer.

Hmm Maniacal Maneiac mentioned seeing fur(or something like that) on the cell sample whenever it was dark. Does ShadowBolt possess some form of Lycanthropy?

8154239 Yeah, ... Tarb kinda set the precedent by giving Mane-iac a regular name, so, I try to throw in some pony where I can, given that normal human names are already established.

8154986 Your first speculation: Just wait and see.

Your second: I used fur as an example, to say that there's some strange reactive texture over his cells.

8155030 I remember once thinking the concept of a tall, dark, and fearsome vigilante named Gary(before i met you).

The image is broken.

8158358 thanks for the heads up. Should be fine now.

I was hoping for more Gigan, why must you give me no Gigan?

8199598 I wanted to make an effort to distance this story a bit from the Christmas Special, and set a different tone to help the reader understand Shadowbolt. Including Gigan would have made this a much different story, and complicated the plot. Plus, it makes room to feature more of Mane-iac herself.

But he'll be back. :raritywink:

Nice cameo from Gigan, nice twist on who the villain was.

I'd like a sequel.

I sure would like to.

Well, I sure din't see that coming.

What is it with people habing to end stories with title drops, though?

Yeah, I'd totally be up for a sequel though i request for Gigan to have a major role next time instead of being relegated to cameos.

I'll admit to not seeing Humdrum coming, nice surprise there.

And i like the fight scenes though they can be a bit too chaotic to follow at times.

Now that you're done cowering under the shadows of vengeance, perhaps we can finally make a journey to a primeval land in Antarctica, or watch the consequences of two worlds colliding in Marvel vs. Godzilla!

Maybe you're close to finally uploading the review for part 2? :trollestia:

That was a fine story, we'll done.

glad you enjoyed it!

I like to think I played on inverting the Humdrum/Mane-iac dynamic from the show. He was an underrated hero, and here, and underrated villain. Plus tie him into the Malice Mares for later purposes.

I was hoping the Humdrum reveal would surprise people.
I just though the title drop at that moment was a perfect fit. I know what you mean though, but it's a common trope because it works.

8332290
Gigan would definitely appear in sequels, and there are plans for him.

Nobody expected Humdrum, hoped you like the "Baby Dragon" bit.

Sorry to hear the fighting was tough to follow, I tried to make it simple. But when Mica has a dozen more limbs to hit you with, it might get a little crazy.

No further update on TLP since last noted. Worlds Collide part 17 is in Tarb's hands currently, waiting to hear back on that, I think you guy'll really enjoy this chapter. The review for 38b is still a thing, but my god is it tough going.

8332691
Well thanks for thinking well of it enough to let me know!

Well if you want to hear some interesting tidbits, a Golden Eagle landed on a lamppost outside my window the other day which is actually the first time I've ever seen an eagle in person so to speak though it was a surprisingly still and quiet individual, and was probably owned considering i saw a "link" of some sorts around its foot.

Second tidbit is that i finally got around to watching Rainbow Rocks and noticed that whenever the Sirens sing their hypnotic songs, they tend to do some form of slow, fluid dancing that seems borderline sensual at times in tandem with it.

It makes me wonder if dancing is also a component of the Sirens' magic?

And given the part in chapter 38A of The Bridge where Electra explains that regular Mermares use song to communicate their sexual desire to a receptive partner, and Sirens are essentially creatures of seduction using song to enthrall their victims along with their dancing...

It makes me wonder if a Siren is the Mermare equivalent of a Succubus?

It had been a few weeks since she’d been able to get Gigan out of her hair, figuratively as well as literally, and a quite weekend was welcomed.

You should replace quite with quiet.

Me and Tarbtano have discussed several sequel options. And I think Gigan would be in the sequel, though he might not be as prominent a figure as he was in the Christmas chapter.

“ They say there’s no rest for the wicked. I never quite understood how to interpret that phrase. Does it mean that evil never sleeps, and that we should be on constant guard against it? Or does it mean that the wicked are the ones who have to be on their toes all the time? Is their nature such that constant pressure to evade justice and retribution requires a leaner and crueler type of existence? Perhaps it means both, that the nefarious and the virtuous are in a perpetual game of chess to get the upper hand on the other. ”

I... don't feel right making a joke about that.

I'll admit I didn't know this existed until about last week. I just got really lucky and it popped up. And I've been wanting a sequel to the Christmas special ever since I read it for the first time a few years ago. And I really liked it I'm really looking forward to another one if you're able to. Mane-iac, M-Gigan, and Shadowbolt. I really hope to see them get to fight crime as a team someday. And I want to do a shout out to Steven Langoud. I'm a big fan of the Humanity's Stand.
