The concept reminds me a bit of "The Games We Play" and with that in mind I know who I would want to ship with Dash! Guess I will have to read to see if that happens.

I would say that I think its Twilight because she was awake at the same time as rainbow, but at the same time I think that would be to obvious.

Yay! This is really cool! I'm definitely looking forward to following this journey.

Great setup with the in-game scene, and a delightful mystery... And it seems from Rainbow's reaction that she might find it exciting in a certain way to have a rival like this I also love the stakes: come out and admit you're a geek, hahaha.

So, clues I've spotted so far: The dialogue from Ne'erdowell is distinctly curious. "Totes making sense" sounds like Pinkie Pie or Scootaloo, but "I cannot wait" is in a rather different register; I can't imagine anyone in the EqG universe talking like that except Celestia or Luna, who have to be only outside candidates at best

It seems distinctly suggestive that Twilight texts Rainbow shortly after the encounter -- almost too obvious, as 9490827 said. That along with the Pinkie-esque "totes" makes me wonder if Ne'erdowell is actually a composite character played by all her friends together. Which is fine except that was the secret reveal in the original MLP season 2 episode so it'd be a bit anticlimactic to have that be the big reveal here as well. (Plus it'd have weird implications for the romantic tension. What does it indicate if you fall for the shared avatar that all your friends are using?)

I'll tell you now that I purposely made their dialogue inconsistent or without a distinct trace so as to keep the scent light. But, the dialogue DOES have a few hints regardless of that fact. Good eye.

Heehee. As long as there's an in-universe explanation for that - whether that's a composite character, someone deliberately trying to use inconsistent phrasing, or something else - then that's cool. Looking forward to more!
