Some creatures have intelligence in a body like an animal. a few of these creatures are rarely capable of speech, and learning. Only the rarest have magic, or an ability of magic. Ponies are a good example of the rarest.
There are others though, and when one of them finds himself in Equestria with no memories and only knowledge, he is very lost. What will become of the beast that can manipulate time? Will he become an enemy, an ally, or something else, as he has no real control over his ability.
Time is fairly malleable. Tough, capable of changes without deviation even from past ripples. That is... very fortunate. Or maybe change might be for the better. Only time would tell, but it might not have much of a choice in the matter anymore.

I'm actually not entirely certain actually. I tend to think of Kitty as mythological, but I'm fairly sure the idea of a great, winged lion of time comes from someplace else. Can't place it for right now, but I'm fairly sure no story mentions anything like him.

This story is absolutely wonderful! I can't promise that I'll be fully able to put my love for it fully into words, but given how there are criminally few comments on it, I have to try, right?
First off-- I'm going to refer to kitty as a sphinx, he sounds like a sphinx-- kitty's characterization and growth over the story's course brings me so much joy. From operating on the purest form of mythic monster instinct he learn and grows how to be better, to listen to and process his emotions, to care for others and keep his promises and grant forgiveness. It's incredibly compelling in both concept and execution, and most impressively of all to me its paced brilliantly too! Progression and growth is gradual but constant in a way that makes this story all but impossible to out down once started.
Then of course there's the wider cast! The Mirages, the CMC, and then the pageant characters, all of them bring something new and wonderful to the story-- and yet the cast is simultaneously kept from bloating, the tightrope of economy in storytelling threaded perfectly as you spin this story out.
As for the events of the story, the way the tension flows, how visceral the time in stone and subsequent flight from Canterlot was, and the way the actions lead from one to the next so naturally that even as one problem is solved new ones crop up organically-- it's all so masterfully done! Exciting and worrying and heartwarming all at once in a delicious balanced blend, I can't overstate how much I enjoyed it.
As for what might happen in future chapters, I have to say I'm on the edge of my seat. Will the CMC be okay? its been months since theyve seen their families, and they cant all cloud-walk! Will smart cookie and clover be able to foster a bond of friendship together? is kitty the catalyst for equestria coming together?
are we building up to a new and changed kitty returning the CMC to the present and getting hit by the harmony beam, only for the beam to leave him unharmed and unchanged because he already *is* in harmony? I hope so! it would be a nice way to come full circle.
