Two things. 1. How does Silver Speak know Silver Tongues name if he does not know Silver Tongues name? 2. The deal "die now or talk and die later" is not a good deal especially for one of Iron Hoofs "most trusted officers".
I scoot back as Thorax does the same, dragging Green Wing’s limp body with him. Another form leaps up after him. I almost shout, but silence myself in time: It’s Chrysalis, not a changeling.
Green Wing does her best impersonation of a battering ram as she headbuts the pony’s snout, breaking his nose. He shrieks in agony, and then again as Beakbreaker hits his shattered nose again and again, each blow harder than the last.
I couldn't find a place to put it in the chapter, but for those who are curious, Iron Hoof's right-hoof pony was called Silver Tongue.
Silverspeak, meet Silver Tongue. No wonder Silverspeak's charm didn't work on him back on the Eagle, if his name is indicative of his talent. Obviously, his talent can't be as powerful as Silverspeak's was, otherwise they wouldn't have needed to kidnap Silverspeak and brainwash him. Still, it also means Iron Hoof would have had experience and training with seeing through a silver tongue and so could resist Silverspeak's attempts as well. At least Silverspeak and Green Wing know enough to not let him live, instead of giving him a second chance or whatever.
(you know, I suddenly thought of something. Mangus was shot and fell a long distance, but while he was dead, I don't think his body was incinerated or crushed. I certainly hope nobody saved his body and restored his brain into a functioning state to bring him into a state of semi-undeath!)
It's actually quite impressive how much damage Silverspeak has done to Iron Hoof in such a short period of time. He's saved Chrysalis and a hundred prisoners, killed a pony who was close enough to Iron Hoof that he brought him along on the Eagle mission, and forced them to evacuate an entire research base. Of course, Iron Hoof blowing up his own base was on him. However, since this is happening on such an accelerated timeline that Black Fang's plan happens tomorrow, it's not enough. Not yet, anyways.
The cyborgs...they're actually the ultimate defense against Silverspeak. Presumably his charm won't work on them, period.
“Iron Hoof doesn’t leave his forces behind, even damaged ones. He believes in bringing everyone back, no matter how banged up they are.”
Like dropping a nuke on his own base in an attempt to kill Silverspeak and Chrysalis? I doubt his base was completely cleared out prior to that. Like seriously, am I misreading that chapter or something? There's transports and ships leaving the base before the bomb drops, but it's too fast for there to have been a complete evacuation.
Speaking of bombs...suddenly, Black Fang having Beakbreaker with him doesn't sound good. I can imagine a case where instead of attacking Black Fang's base, the resistance instead decides they have to drop a bomb, be it a conventional bomb or an asteroid from outer space on Manehatten. While he has Beakbreaker hostage with him. That would be tragic.
I just realised that this story is a little over a year old, heh

Shoot; even after three revisions, it never fails to amaze me how things like that can slip through the cracks. Fixed.

Whoops, both of those have been fixed. Thanks for pointing them out.

Iron Hoof had emptied most of his base by the time of the story, so there was only a handful of ponies left to evacuate.
