Original Works. It was a good run.

T

The Undead Asylum; the place where those afraid of the curse lock up the undead so that they may be forgotten, turn hollow, and hurt no one but themselves. It is a dark, foul place, but only the beginning of the journey for a few chosen undead.

So, why is Pinkie there, and how much will she, or even her other half, be able to take before they break?

A Dark Souls 1 crossover

Hello. I like your story so far!

As well as, from me to you, what do you think of this depiction of Pinkamena?

Honestly I feel like she is too withdrawn, I would think she would come up with outside the box ways of defeating her opponents and using all of her items in crazy ways that are effective. Not to mention Pinkie sense would be a great cheat power against the hidden doors and traps of Dark souls.

8011504 Why? This is something I asked a prereader, as it's sounding like the same problem, so I kind of want an explanation. The prereader expected her to go psychotic in the future, which got the same response I'm giving now. Why? Why is this Pinkamena too withdrawn, and what of how she as acted or shown makes there be a reason she shouldn't.

Well Pinkamena is still a darker aspect of Pinky pie, while she is more of the negative serial killer side she is still just as smart. I would have expected her to be somewhat all in for a world with no rules, no laws, and everyone just as bad on the crazy side of thing but not as smart. Right now, she doesn't have a feel like a pony character but just someone trapped in the DS world. I'm not knocking the story and I am excited to see how it plays out but this is what I see so far.

I don't want to spoil the story, or what my grand idea with this Pinkamena, but I want you to possibly look back on these two chapters and ask what you're shown makes her out to be a serial killer, and look back onto the show, not the fandom, that supports it either. It's why I led my first question with 'Why?'

I actually like this depiction of Pinkamena. The fandom exaggerates by claiming she's a psychotic serial killer but she's just Pinkie's negative emotions surfacing. Also I would like to know more about what those choices entail before I choose if that is possible.

8012815 If you haven't played Dark Souls before, unfortunately it's meant to be a blind choice. I like to include them from time to time in these stories to see what people will gravitate towards, and possibly for what reasons. If you have played Dark Souls, I will give you the one hint of the fact that the next chapter shall include reaching Firelink shrine.

8013001 In that case I think I will choose knowledge. Also, why the old witch's ring as the starting gift and not the master key?

I pick number 2
Faith
Also I really like this depiction of Pinkamena, it's closer to canon then I would actually expect. Most people make her out to be some sort of crazy killer, this depiction is far more interesting and fits in my opinion.

8013047 It's mostly due to the fact that while the master key would allow you all to guide her in possibly more interesting ways, the Witch's ring allows her to get a bit more story, which I consider more valuable.

Looking good so far. The emotional turmoil is pretty severe and I'm kinda worried about what happens later on with The Fair Lady, but it's going to be awesome.

My choice is Faith. First, because it would make it more fun with Patches when she blurts it out, but also because it would make sense here. She is putting her faith in being able to get home. I am, however, curious what you mean by silent comfort and hopelessness.

Pinkamena be hacking, using sacred flame (2 games before we could use it) to oneshot the boss, with a dark flame no less (only in ds2, to my knowledge).

Choice will be 4. Also, noticed few errors, mind if I point to them?

As for Pinkamena's depiction... well, too early to say anything solid, first chapter and all, but... huh, I feel like she experienced a truly horrific event(s), what with her not wanting to come out and all.

Consider me interested, do continue. :moustache:

8015506 I'm always fine with mistakes being pointed out. I don't give these a thorough editing pass, so cracks will happen.

8016101 Ah, okay, here they are:

I’ll just keep these warm until I he wakes up.

Not sure if a last second word swap or not, to be honest.

And, as her and touched the sword,

listen to, bu Pinkie

Also, in response to 8011518
Oh, that's simple, this game makes everyone go insane, sooner or later. I mean, I guess that people tend to mix up fanon (or headcanon, whichever suits you) and canon.

If you ask any random person in the fandom about Pinkamena, I'd guess 7 out of 10 people would assume you're talking about the cupcakes fic, and all the fics that spawned from it (which, might I add, was written before Party of one and before we even discovered Pinkie's actual name, Pinkamena, making it very much fanon, but was only reinforced by Party of One's possible implications.), even if you say you're basing it off the show here.

Hence, this being a fanfic and all, people will start reading this with certain expectations once they know that there is a character called 'Pinkamena', (I did as well, too be honest, which explained my unease at her wanting to be locked up in Pinkie's mind and what would have caused that). Naturally, if you write her in a different light than most people would expect her to be (I.e. based on what we saw in the show, the canon, which is very little, I.e. not Cupcakes-inspired., to make a new fanon), it shouldn't come as a surprise if your fanon doesn't match up with their fanon.

In short, people can have different expectations about different things, which may end up feeling wrong from them if what they expect isn't what you expect. Hope that might clear it up somewhat.

Of course, speaking purely from a ds lore standpoint, hollowing is said to make all of its victims go insane, attacking anyone for even the slightest hint of souls. I'm not yet sure if Pinkamena will actually die/respawn/hollow/kindle/all that stuff yet, but it's easy to at least assume as much.

8011518
Pinkamena is just typically expected to go full psycho or complete yandere because that's her most common depiction within fan works.
Honestly, the way you've got the two is pretty spot-on. Of course, like
8018991 this person said, it makes everyone go crazy sooner or later. How crazy is, uhh, up to debate.

By the way... Silent comfort.

Knowledge

She should put trust in Knowledge, the most practical in my opinion.

Small nitpick but they didn't have sacred chimes in Dark Souls 1, only talismans. Also I choose option one: Undead Burg. She would have a hard time with the skeletons and she can't even fight the ghosts.

Great so far always loved dark souls 1 and I really want to see pinkie and pinkamena reaction to knight solar so I chose option one

8043223 *soft cursing* You are ABSOLUTELY RIGHT. Ugh. Been playing too much DS 2 and didn't double check.

Option 1, is looking amazing so far!

I pick number 3
:3

I would LOVE to see Pinkie go to see Kathe, but I have a feeling that the underwater ruins would break her mind permanently right now. As well, I would love to see how she dealt with the necromancers in the Catacombs, but I think that she would actually go hollow if faced with that. For that reason, I vote for Undead Burg. I would love to see her get Astora's Straight Sword, but that can wait until later.

This seems like it going to be good. I just hope it wont be forgotten like the Twilight Bloodborne fic. :raritydespair: I'll track it for now.

8047203 It's not, I promise! *slams head against a desk* I've even thought about writing the next chapter, but getting pulled away for one reason or another. Just to let you know though, as a hint for the next choice I have in mind for that one: Heinrick.

So I promise it's not forgotten, and may even be able to get some love soon since I'm being able to write more for just myself right now, and these stories are really good fun for me.

8047222 Ahh, alright, that good to hear. Looking forward to it and don't stress yourself out :rainbowlaugh:.

I feel bad that Pinkie is befriending Petrus because he's kind of an asshole. I pick option 2.

8050091 I'm trying to depict him somewhat as what would be seen from a first timer's view as I do want these crossovers to be able to be enjoyed by all, and why would anyone want to distrust Petrus. He's just your friendly cleric.

and with this meeting has lost some intelligence (for now, and just the stat) to boost her faith

Say what now? Or am I to understand that Pinkamena has higher int than Pinkie?

Going 2 here, would rather see her meet the merchant and face her first black knight, not to mention the boss.

8052453 It's more her stats. She's not lost her IQ, but rather the intelligence stat. It's purely a way to allow her to swap to things like miracles or intelligence from time to time.

Mystery is an understatement. The only thing I got out of this was that Pinkie died. Probably going to be the first death of many. Option 2 sounds like the most fun so I pick that one.

Darkness.
Dark, darker, yet darker still.
So dark that you move beyond the dark and it can only get lighter.
I pick option 1.

Interesting story even if i'm not a fan of the overtly gamey elements (mainly the health and stamina bars and other ui elements), looking forward to seeing where it goes.

oh and 3 because it ain't dark souls without dark... and dying, a lot of dying. :pinkiecrazy:
