The 7th pass of the Red Star over Pern heralded the beginning of the dragon's ancient duty to the people of Pern. Rider and dragon both, risked life and limb to meet their ancient foe in aerial battle, the mindless, silvery Thread which threatened to consume all life on their planet. Every fighting dragon is needed to sear the Thread in the sky before it can reach the ground, but mid-battle, an injured Bronze, a precious, newly mated golden Queen, and their riders, do not return to their Weyr from Between, and are instead transported to another world entirely. How will they cope, especially once the Queen lays her eggs. Only time will tell.

Based on the brilliant Chronicles of Pern series by Anne McCaffrey, a brilliant author of a brilliant series. I recommend it to anyone who likes fantasy, sci-fi or dragons :)

None of Anne McCaffrey's books take place during the 7th Pass, so the human and dragon characters are all my own creation.

For the purposes of this story, I'll stick to the show Canon up to the movies, I won't be using major story points from season 8 when it's out.

Umm... I'm pretty sure you're going way past Fair Use if you're quoting the entire prologue and calling it Prologue.

Liking this so far!
Looking forward to more chapters, the dragons seem to be really cool, and big ... big is good.

*sees crossover with pern series, instantly hits tracking button*

First, I am a massive fan of the Pern series. To the point my son is named "Robinton."

Second, I'm glad another writer is diving into the deep lore of McCaffery's worlds.

Third, your entire Prologue chapter is actively bordering on plagiarism. I fully get and understand the need for such a prologue, particularly as it makes if feel like one of McCaffery's works, but it's pretty much a copy/paste of the first few pages of a Pern novel. Much as I love the concept, and where you look to be going with this, I get the strong feeling this story is going to be taken down.

I hope I'm wrong, and if I'm right I hope the author can rework the prologue into their own words while keeping the "McCaffery" feel to it.

8387085 I would really suggest rewriting it. You are copy-pasting whole paragraphs of Anne and Todd's works, which while it may seem okay, is still plagiarism. Plus, rewriting it shows off your own writing skill, and at the very least isn't duplicating a wonderful writer's words like a parrot.

I'm glad you're liking it, I have big plans for this story :ajsmug:

With my site name you can guess how long it took me to start reading this. After reading the prologue and then the comments I will not be finishing the story. I will track the story and wait to see if you correct the prologue and then decide about the rest of the story.

I wonder what happened....:trixieshiftright:

I like it!!! Go deus ex lingua!!

Dragon Riders of Pern... my all time favorite series! I wish they'd adapt them into movies or a video game! This is the series that made me swear dragons and human riders was the best combo ever!

I'm eager to see how Ponyville reacts to the humans and Pern Dragons. But I can totally see the riders finding Equestria a pampered place to live without Thread. Granted, they're in Ponyville where monster attacks occur regularly and Discord comes by for Tea with Fluttershy every week, but I can see them making bits with quick transport and maybe doing some shows with the Wonderbolts. And those rouge dragons youmentioned are probably going to get a taste of Varoth's flame and Melrith's fangs and claws.

CUTIE MARK CRUSADERS DRAGON RIDERS YAY!!! Please let it happen, even if they don't impress a dragon, they should get a few rides, especially Scootaloo.

As someone who has read a majority of the Pern books I was worried that this would not be well done. I am very happily surprised, and eagerly want more.

There was a Dragon Riders of Pern Video game many, many years ago, officially licensed and everything. But like many games of old, they were to niche

Interesting so far though the first chapter seems to be basically what every reader sees opening one of the pern books

Very nice, I almost feel sorry for the first thing to attack Ponyville after the dragons have settled down and decide to protect it.

Hmm... Now i wonder...

If Garble were to meet Melrith, Sierra and Varoth, i think Garble would get his ass kicked if he were to be even remotely like when he wanted Spike to smash the phoenix egg🤔

Queen Dragons never r far from their clutch, and they have the rest of the Wyer to aid in that defense. its not perfect though mind, Rammoth has had her clutch raided once, and shes the biggest of all the Queens ever hatched on Pern, even if her Rider, Lessa, is one of the smallest ever...but dont tell her that, Lessa has a wicked temper on her and she remembers those who insult her even more sharply than she remembers her friends...

so one month till clutch time where o where shall they be building the hatching grounds the mountain from the previously mentioned friend report maybe or will they go native but speculation aside I'm a happy reader may you write in peace
