SPark

Not checking in here. I may post stories because my patrons are nice and like ponies. Otherwise out of the fandom, sorry peeps.

Twilight Sparkle is blissfully happy to be dating Princess Luna. But when the ever-clumsy Twilight breaks one of Luna's oldest possessions, Twilight is sure that failing to fix it will spell disaster.

Adventures in taking the TwiLuna contest's prompt (and this story's title) extremely literally. (And this took second place, woot!)

Edited as usual by the amazing Jordanis, with assistance from TheAccidentalBrony.

Absolutely adorable. You captured Twi and Luna perfectly. And I can definitely see why that might lead to flashbacks.

8009312 Thanks! TwiLuna is probably my favorite ship. Well, unless you count TwiLunEstia. But that's harder to write.

8009316 Twilight just never can get comfortable with the sisters arguing over who makes her squeal the loudest.

This was very cute.

8009337 Indeed!

8009354 Thank you!

That was a pretty nice story. But why would Twi assume the shoes could have been hardened when they bent so easily?

8009487 Ponies don't always think clearly when they're freaked out and trying not to panic.

Sweet! :pinkiehappy:

And gave me flashbacks to the metalworking course I took in college.

Whereas most of my experience with hardening, tempering, and annealing generally involved a big electric oven and A2, or a little O2, and one time some S7 (which strings like crazy when you're turning it by the way, even at a really high feed). :pinkiehappy:

8009627 He he he. I have no idea what half that is.

8009636

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tool_steel
To be more specific, A2 is air quenched, O2 is oil quenched, and S7 is shock resistant (also air quenched).

8009656 Ah! Nifty! I only worked with silver and copper.

8009659
Never tried those, although I hear that copper likes to grab endmills if you're not careful. That and it's apparently like aluminum in some ways, which can gum up the flutes on an endmill if your RPMs are too low for the IPM you're running.

Luna walks into her bedroom and burst out laughing, because Twilight is dressed as a circus clown.
"You said interesting, you never specified what kind of interesting."

8009670 Yeah, we were doing almost entirely hand work, so that kind of thing was less of an issue.

8009691 Hah! I like it!:pinkiehappy:

I don't know what I was expecting when I came into this, but somehow it was exactly what I got.

8009734 :pinkiehappy: I'll take that as a compliment.

This story was interesting! I'd love more metal smithing Twilight:derpytongue2:
Also 8009312
What they said!

8009573 Thanks!
8009371 Thank you!

8009954 I really love stories where Twilight gets to be super-competent in STEM-type fields. (If you do to and haven't read it already, might I suggest The Celestia Code?) Though I suppose she's not super competent here, exactly.

Nice, I enjoyed this story. Always fun to see Twilight be herself.

8009691
I think that would be the moment Twilight needs to realize she is either hanging around Pinkie or Discord too much.

8009963 I have actually read all (except the in progress Skyla one) of the code series thus far! But thanks for the recommendation anyway, good taste! :raritywink:

I have a recommendation for you though, more blacksmith Twily :derpytongue2:

8010526 Hah. I don't have anything like that in the works, but someday, maybe, if I get a good idea.

Have to agree with the others; this captured the characters extremely well. Luna had better be careful, though, rewarding Twi's neurotic behaviour like that... :rainbowlaugh:

8010578 But Twi is so cute when she's freaking out!

Well, that was pretty cute. And tame, as far as Twilight neurotic episodes go. I half expected the need for an intervention :twilightsheepish:

Oh, and also: Twiluna! Squeeeeeeee!!! <3

8010715 Well, I feel like by this point Twilight has a bit of a better handle on herself than earlier on.

8010732 Absolutely, and I liked the way you went about it, with Twilight realizing she's freaking out, and calms down. She clearly did learn from her mistakes.

Got any more cute twiluna stories in store? :pinkiehappy:

8010740 Probably eventually. It's one of my favorite ships. (And I'm slowly finishing up my ancient adventure story that also features a little TwiLuna on the side.) Especially if the TwiLuna group keeps doing contests, I enjoy writing contest stories. Gives me a deadline and some motivation so they actually get done instead of just sitting in my ideas folder for ages.

I didn't know what to expect when I opened this story, but I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of writing within. I think that was one of the best portrayals of Twilight Sparkle I have ever seen. She would approve of this if be slightly embarrassed by the accuracy of her internal meltdown.

Luna does metal work in her spare time...

all I can say is...

HEADCANON ACCEPTED!!!

Having watched someone fall asleep holding a soldering iron (and proceed to burn a hole clear through a circuit card) the thought of Twi metalworking is a touch scary.

But it was d'awww.

Adorable indeed! Geeky nervous Twilight is just great here. Even if she panics a bit!

8010790 I'm glad you liked it!

8010812 I've always seen Luna as being artistic, and I figure given how long Alicorns live that she's tried a little of basically everything by now.

8011240 Yikes!

8011436 Adorkable Twi is best Twi.

8009316 Twilunestia is my favorite ship as well. Possibly only because I find the "Twilight lies between day and night," wordplay childishly hilarious.

great little story

I enjoyed this. Sweet, funny and short. Great work.

Finally got around to reading the whole thing. Absolutely glorious >:3

And now I wish for more Tuna in the world. ;~;

8046932 Thanks! And yes, always more Tuna. :pinkiehappy:

8046946 Yus.

So ... it's your turn for more, right? :P

8046948 Hah! I still have to read your latest. But I am actually working on one. It's a sequel to my Spring Tide.

I'm about to write up my review of this, and I shall do my best to remain impartial until I have reviewed all the entries for the contest, but I do want to tell you that I really enjoyed this.

Also sorry the contest judging kind of fell apart. We're in the process of trying to salvage things.

8246229 Life happens. I'm really just glad I had an excuse to write this, because I enjoyed writing it.

8246380
I'm glad you wrote it too! Gave me a good deep chuckle more than once.

:twilightsheepish: "Durability spells?"

Luna: "Had those, they just weren't meant to prevent the wear of a thousand years."

Derflinger: "Preach it, sister!"

Twi should show up in the (mostly) restored Regalia, only to have Luna zap in a copy of Twilight's for a little role reversal roleplay, only it winds up with them roasting/flanderizing each-other until they can't breathe from giggling.

That certainly was a cute story. It ended on a surprisingly sweet note. Given Twilight's penchant for freaking out and blowing things out of proportion, I was half expecting the story to go the route of Guy de Maupassant's The Necklace
