A Tale as Old as Time...
Radiant Hope wants more out of life than the small town of Ponyville can offer. There she stands out from other ponies with her unique point of view, her love of helping others, as well as her love of books, not to mention her crystal coat. Hope longs for travel and adventure, for a life as exciting as the stories she reads.
But, when Hope's beloved father, Crystal Hoof, is taken prisoner by a cruel shadow pony in an enchanted castle, her path in life is forever changed. Risking her freedom and her future she takes her father's place secretly vowing to escape, but the more she learns about the shadow pony and his mysterious castle, the more she realizes there may be more to his story -and her own- than she ever could have imagined...
This story needs some serious spacing. The paragraphs are all piled on top of each other, its hard to read due to that. Otherwise, this is a not bad start, I do like that Celestia is the enchantress...

I do plan to use more of the book and original Disney movie, but I also have a lot of inspiration from the Broadway musical Disney made. So, the prologue just sets everything up. It will become more like the original tale in upcoming chapters.

Yeah Blueblood might be overused but it's hard to think of another character in MLP that would fit the role. I wpuld suggest the stallion that Applejack, Fluttershy and the Flimflam brothers contend with in Viva Las Peguses but he strike me as too old. Sorry
Hmm what about Trenderhoof for the role of Gaston? Or maybe the Flim Flam brothers.
Blueblood would be perfect for Gaston. But if that's too obvious then you could try Iron Will. Both are buff scene stealing personalities with a whole shtick about talking in the third person. Would also create some delicious irony for the

8147923 Oh.. Iron Will... I forgot about his own vanity... but he wasn't a real jerk, gave Fluttershy bad advice and full of himself, but not necessary to Gaston level... well from point of view.
8146455 I don't really see either of those choices, Flim and Flam are silver-tongued snake-oil salesmen and Gaston is more of a ... well Gaston, as for Trenderhoof... he strikes me more as someone with a bolted sense of his opinion on things while Gaston... well he had the skills and body to back up his ego... just saying. but I can see why you think they would work
How about Svengallop. He strikes me as the Gaston type.

Interesting... Gaston being a changeling was unexpected, but I actually really like it. It makes a lot of sense considering his personality, and I also love the lore you created with the Crystal Pony reflecting love, which makes a lot of sense given what role they played in the show.
This phrasing is absolutely breathtaking. It manages to envelop everything this story hopes to be into one statement, and is true on too many levels to fathom. Amazing start. Can't wait to read what there is of it.
