Kurt Smith, a classmate of John Radderson aka Twilight Sparkle's, agreed to help Twilight after she came to school with purple fur, hooves, wings, and a horn. After acquiring the Elements of Harmony, Twilight's friends end up becoming anthropomorphic versions of the Mane 6 and Spike the Dragon, Twilight's faithful assistant. Actually, I still want to do at least one. Let's see, with Rarity, Starlight, and Vinyl as the possible choices, I'm immediately discarding Rarity because I can't write someone like that. Well, I can easily write snobby, snotty arseholes who feel insecure about themselves, I'd just have to take myself and turn everything up to eleven (do people still say that when they want to say they increase something to an over-the-top manner?), but Rarity is the opposite of that. Also, I don't care much for clothes designs, as long as I'm wearing grey sweatpants, a white polo shirt, and a red jacket I'm golden.
As for Starlight, I shouldn't do that because I only watched a few episodes of season 6, so the only characterization of her I know of is what's in season 5 and many, many fanfictions, which leave me with the impression that she's a ridiculously powerful spellcaster who's a bit socially awkward and brainwashes people in her spare time, and is also like a secondary assistant to Twilight, even though from what I know of in the show, she's someone Twilight pressures into doing things like trying to make friends with those she isn't that compatible with on the friendship area, and if she does something Twilight doesn't approve of, then Twilight will try to pressure her until something goes horribly wrong. So yeah, I don't think I would be a good fit for writing Starlight.
That leaves Vinyl Scratch, who is, in my headcanon, mute. If we discard that, because that's just headcanon backed up by vinyl never speaking, ever, at all, period, then I think I would do decently well with writing her. Here's the thing: The one that turns into her is just the resident DJ. She'd probably appear far less than all the others, even after she's introduced, and given her nameless position before transforming, she looks like she'd be a supporting character, just appearing and disappearing at random. Actually, I'd be fine with that, just as I would be fine with that if she would be a character that appears often. Just one thing...
If I write Vinyl, would that mean I could also do either Octavia or an Octavia-inspired character, because Octavia's my second favorite background character, with Vinyl being my favorite. Applejack's my favorite pony, but she's not a background pony, and if anyone claims that she is I will write their words on a piece of paper and force them to literally eat their words.
