Everypony has secrets. Some are big, some are small. Shadow's secret is a big one. When his secret is discovered, the young colt is forced to run for his life and quickly finds himself simply trying to survive in a land that he has only ever heard about in rumors and history class, a land ruled by an iron-hoofed tyrant: Equestria.

Next to him, Shadow seemed to think about it for a moment before shrugging. “I don’t know what happened, but if you ever want to talk about it…”

Who is speaking? Because Shadow is in the previous sentence, my first thought was that it was his. But the next sentence is Shadow saying "thanks", so ... confusion. Try to avid writing like that.

I shall keep that in mind. Thank you.

I'm going to join the alliance of "Give this story more views" and spread it to all my peeps. Then I'm going to read the rest of it (unless it takes a turn into weirdistan, or awkwardland)

Thank you. I tried to avoid those places as much as possible.

My god this is amazing You have earned yourself a follow

“We wait.”

very accurate ending that relates well to my situation... i now have to wait for the next chapter since i just finished reading through everything

The next chapter should be coming soon. I hope I don't disappoint.

Great story overall, and also big plus is that your writing is excellent in both style and grammar.

Looking forward to more! :twilightsheepish:

I haven't read this story yet (but I will as it does sound good) but get a reason why Celestia is evil in this story, right?

Of course, but that will come in a later chapter.

Not the first time the Princesses actions or lack thereof regarding Sombre and the Crystal Empire has had people considering them evil. I look forward to seeing how the author handles it since Luna doesn't seem to be painted with same brush as Celestia

...looking forward to the next chapter.

Always a good read.

Great job, another amazing chapter

Which stuffed Spike? The one that was created during the dinner or he plush version I'd think the former would object. I do wonder how Spike reacted to seeing his plush doppelganger. Shadow seems to have a different outlook on the 'Lunar Rebellion' and Celestia's actions hopefully in time that will all be worked out

Some of Shadow's feelings about Celestia are explained in the next chapter, but chapters 16 and 17 go into much more detail, especially about the 'Lunar Rebellion / Nightmare War'.

Very interesting chapter I look forward to the next chapter

And now it all came to the head.

...impressive. A fine take on Sombra, though it may differ from canon. I look forward to the next installment.

Thanks. I've never read any of the comics, so I based this chapter on what is known from the show.

And I'm caught up. Power read all available and slept and worked in a 24 hr span.

I like it.

Rereading this,

was the captain of tranquility a deckhand on harmony?
is that why he froze at the helm, cause it had come back for him?

8722032
Yes and no. Considering the trauma he would have suffered having survived the attack on the Harmony, freezing at the helm would be completely understandable upon seeing the monster of his nightmares attacking again.

Shadow sounds like Shadow the Hedgehog from the Sonic series, right?

8739555
I never played Sonic growing up. The name is because of the color of his coat, the fact that he'd have to live in the shadows of society back home and traditional naming conventions among some circles back home.

Interesting chapter wonder how it did compared to Diamond Tiaras

THEY SAID IT!! THEY SAID THE NAME OF THE STORY!!!

Excellent use of muffins and cloudy weather!

i find myself waiting impatiently for when they finally get to the island

Not like this.

I figured he'd run into Tranquility again.. But not like this.

Still, continue to enjoy. Nice writing as always.

Complete tag?
NNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

it's supposed to be the end of the arc, not the story!

Sadly yes. I had fun writing this and I figured that I'd end it on a happier note than how Homecoming ended. It's nice to see that some people enjoyed this, but all good things must come to an end, otherwise they become as long as War and Peace. I've read that book and I don't remember most of it simply because of how long it is.

I only found this story a few months ago. It was nice to have something of such quality pop up every so often. With each ended story, un-replaced I find myself drifting away from ponies.

When Shattered Skies concludes, I may just be done.

But still, thanks for the story. I loved it.

It certainly ended on a good note.
Too bad we don't know who his wife is or how his training under Luna was.

8920126
I never had any plans to give his wife a name and I leave how his time as Luna's student went up to the reader's imagination.

An excellent story. Thanks for persevering and finishing it.

Knowing that was the best he was going to get, the young colt sat up in his bed, yawning as he threw off the heavy quilted blanket. Jumping down to the wood floor as quietly as possible, he arched his back like the orange cat that was currently curled up under his bed. As he stretched, he let his wings slowly unfold, the simple move eliciting a small moan of pleasure as the muscles loosened. Straightening out a few rebellious feathers, the black colt looked up at his roommate, who simply stared back with an arched eyebrow. “What?”

Waaaaaaiit... he had a horn a few paragraphs ago...

8958141
Yes, he did. Horns and wings aren't mutually exclusive.
