Cytotoxin

I`m Russian, I`m female, I`m blunter then a bag of hammers and I write pony staff occassionally. That`s about it.

Quick Quill is but a junior journalist. Yet, by a stroke of wild luck, he ends up being invited on board of Rainbow - pinnacle of Equestrian military airforce. The reason? He`s there to take an interview with admiral - first in almost five years. And yes, admiral does have something to say...

(Dark and adventure are added mostly to reflect the implied carnage in first chapter. Don`t expect anything gratuitous.)

Addendum: Well, OK, maybe not just first chapter, now.

The first chapter feels like it could stand out as it's own short story ;D

On to chapter two! :rainbowdetermined2:

That`s by design. I planned this to be stories that are only loosely connected to each other, like newspaper articles. Ultimate goal was to make it so chapters could be read in any order without breaking the flow all that much.

With chapter two finished, I can say that I'm looking forward to future chapters.
This elicited a fav. so that I may recieve updates!

What I enjoyed the most was the portrayal of Rainbow Dash. Her demeaner and storytelling impart her loyal character, but her character emanates adventure. That is something I find hard to come by, yet when sought out and found, it leaves feeling elated!

Good luck and keep up the good work, madame!

I`ve been trying to picture Rainbow as somepony who`s seen more things then pony should in her quest for glory. Granted, there`s her loyalty, which is why she is there holding the line when things go badly in the very beginning of her career, but she comes into army an idealist. Dash believes her wish is about to come true - and when she`s bumped to the side, I have no doubt she entertained less then stellar designs at first.

Loyalty is the motif here - ultimately it`s loyalty to Wonderbolts that prevents Dash from actually becoming a member of the team. Nopony would really blame her if she were to make a big ruckus out of her misfortune - it is doubtless that Celestia wouldn`t hesitate to make a harsh example out of dishonest count.

People would assume that what happens in Zarhyme is what changes Dash, but... I`d like to think that whole Zarhyme campaign was a consequence of the change, not the cause of it.

This chapter is loaded with fasinating developments.

I must say, I never thought I'd see a crossover of steampunk and liches. Interesting to say the least.

Wait till you get a load of Fluttershy. :fluttershyouch:

Heh, with vigor do I wait.
She is my favorite pony after all!

Although, I am looking forward to the other characters' exposition as well.

Fluttershy will make an appearance soon, but...I`m not certain other three will play any significant roles in this particular tale. At least, I don`t have any definite plans for it just yet.

From my perspective, it shall be known as the story unfolds.

Personal speculation leads me to at least wonder as to what may occur should Twilight alert Rainbow Dash of an uncovered plot of a quick attack. That, and I also wonder as to what may have allowed for Celestia to essentially grant immortality to Twilight in such a manner.

Last question I can answer. It`s a reference to my other story that I haven`t finished yet. The gist of situation is that Twilight contracts magic poisoning. It`s a disorder that happens if one routinely overuses high-power magic. At the time Twilight contracts it, it`s considered a thing of a past - last known case was centuries ago.

Celestia`s "guilt" in this situation is that she allows Twilight to experiment unchecked, and Twilight contracts an acute case of magic poisoning due to that. When she discovers it, it`s too late to do anything about it - the only solution Twilight comes across is to allow the poisoning to run it`s course and then do the resurrection.

Obviously enough, this resurrection can`t be just "here`s your life back" kind of deal ,as magically-stimulated apoptosis does not go anywhere. So Twilight opts for next best thing and becomes a lich instead - a decision that causes a lot of friction and readjustments down the line. Celestia is not thrilled about it, and Twilight has her own set of grievances as well.

It is good then that I'm following you as that premise sounds intriguing!

No promises. If you feel like it, send me a PM and I`ll show you the drafts, but... I often have problem finishing the stories I started. And I tend to avoid publishing unfinished works if I can help it.

You should probably explain your aversion to articles (rather than it being something you see as a flaw) in the author's notes.

I think it`s sufficiently explained in my profile.
