Madame Hellspawn

Starlight Pony is best glimmer

T

Equestria is changing and ponies are scared. Everyone knows what is coming, but they all are trying to ignore the inevitable.

In an attempt to prepare for the worst, Equestria's greatest scholars and researchers have gathered in Canterlot to help preserve knowledge of all corners of the world if worse comes to worse. Trixie and Twilight are among the many who have volunteered in this undertaking and are the best at what they do. Great progress has been made towards this compendium, but it is far from complete and there are still many stories to tell.

A new visitor comes from a far away land, claiming a desire to help expand Equestria's Encyclopedia. It's an arduous task to be sent away to a foreign land unheard of by many, but it is all for a good cause, is it not?

A very curious take on the characters. Twilight is certainly recognizable but Trixie has a strikingly different personality. I look forward to how these two interact in this new world. Lyra and Sparkler are also fun additions.

Lots of worldbuilding going on and we've only just started. Amusing to see the parallels that Cystera has with what I'm assuming is feudal Japan.

Defiantly keeping my my eyes on this one!

Thanks!

I have story reasons for making Trixie a bit different and yeah, Cystera takes inspiration from feudal Japan.
I'll be trying my best with this one!

What exactly is changing that's gotten the Equestrians so scared?

Their way of life, primarily. I sorta hint to it in the first chapter, and I guess the description could use some work too (I suck at those generally), but Equestria is typically painted as being a peaceful place and—without really giving away too much—I kinda wanted to change that.

Yikes, it didn't take long for things to go down the crapper!

Even before the ending of this chapter, we can see that there are some cracks in the presentation that the hippogriffs want are trying to make towards the ponies. The guard and his consort being the biggest example. I guess Sparkler was right on the money with her ill portends.

Then, BAM!, surprise attack. I get a very Inyuyasha feel from this fight, with feudal soldiers and random monsters coming out to join in. Curious to see what that was all about.

The things we put up with for a friend, right Trixie?

Such juxtaposition of beautiful cities and countrysides with the deadly and brutal underbelly of slaves and prisoners. I'm afraid Trixie and the rest are going to be learning more than they really wanted.

And poor Trixie. Wanting to go one way in life but pigeonholed into another. And now this.

Till next time!
