He will spread God's teachings across the Multiverse with his troops and friends by his side while keeping the armies of Hell at bay and prevent them from spreading across the Multiverse.

7784304 That garbage video game was an insult to the real Knight's Templar, plain and simple. The Knight's Templar was an order of religious monks trained to be warriors, thus creating the perfect weapon to defend all of Christendom, as they were founded to do.
The Templar were created after the success of the First Crusade. They were both a shield and a sword for the Christians of Europe, and defended Christendom by taking the battle the lands of the enemy, so as to spare European lands the bloodshed. The Islamic Conquest, which threatened the entire world if it wasn't stopped, was the cause of the Crusades. The Byzantine Empire asked for the Pope's help against the spread of Islam, and the First Crusade, was born.
Many believe the Crusades were an offensive force, but this is far from correct. The Crusades, Knight's Templar included, were a defensive war against Jihad. (Jihad to a Muslim means Holy War) Pope Urban II knew that a Holy war could not be defeated without creating a version for Christendom. Thus, two armies of Holy Soldiers, Jihadists and Crusaders, met in the Levant of the Middle East. One side fought to conquer, and spread the ideology of Islam across the globe. The other side, fought to both halt the spread of Islam, and hold the city in which their Lord and Savior had made sacred by his blood.
The Knight's Templar were a bulwark of Christendom, but in halting the Conquest of Islam, they saved every other religion on the planet. Europe, Asia, North, Central, and South America, all owe the Crusades and the Knight's Templar their thanks, for by spilling blood, which went against the laws of their God, they saved the world.
I hope this little story heightens your view of the Templars, because if you aren't Muslim, you owe them your freedom, as we all do.

It doesn't sound very likely that every Steel Ranger would come with clean motives. The Elder would be more cautious about trusting all new "recruits" because maybe the Steel Rangers might have sent a "infiltrator" before? One that betrayed the trust? Or one may have come to them but after a little while resting and resupplying, turned to a raider life style? It doesn't sound that far fetched when you think about it
The point is that the Elder may trust Iron now, but not completely trust him. And a new being as well? That likely warrants a bit more caution as well
