I am excited that there is a sequel. I loved the prequel and I can't wait for what is about to unfold.:pinkiehappy:

*pony Maenads would be hilarious*
In any case, delighted to see the sequel. I shall follow closely.

Twilight won't always be able to persuade her way out of a fight, especially in a monster-infested world where Kain came from.

7846554

And I'm glad to finally be writing it!

7846839

I hope you enjoy this one just as much as the first one!

7848095

Yeah?!

7848182

We shall see what comes of this.

7848595

The sequel I have been waiting for. :pinkiehappy:

Did the Tree disappear, or did it just lose luminescence and went silent yet remain in the cave? :applejackconfused:

Ah. A final fantasy displaced, eh? Didn't know this existed. Too bad I'm swamped with other readings for the time being to get through. XD

The Raptor and Scholar classes reminds me of the Final Fantasy Tactics series while the Confectioneer is a party-themed engineer, basically. The class system overall is reminiscent of Final Fantasy 5.

7863593 Oh? Odd. It appeared in the Displaced group.

7863541

It went dormant.

7863571

This is not a displaced fic. The MLP characters have received classes from other FF universes, but they are still in Equestria. The gear they have now is because of their new abilities.

7863591

There's a little bit from some of the different games, nice eye.

7863618 Ironically, someone just told me the same. But oddly, it appeared in a Displaced group for some reason.

7863618

Gotcha. It is sad that simple words doesn't come out as clear to people, like me.

7863618 Thanks. I've been an avid fan since my dad introduced FF8 to me. My favorite games in the series are 4, 5 and Grimoire Rift.

7863620

Now that is odd, I've only added it to crossover lists so far, I'm not even part of a displaced group @_@

It's great to finally see the sequel of the last story. I hope this story will be as much fun to read as the last one.

i recognize cannoneer/engineer and raptor as jobs from tactics advance 2.. fighter and white mage from origional.. beastmaster from 5(or was it advance).... unfortunatly im drawing blanks on where the scholar class is from... are you going to include the job change system in this like from 5 or the tactics series?

7876660

Scholars came from FFIII.

Right now, I don't have any plans for multi-classing. Instead, I'll build on the repitoire of their current classes.

7876883 okay... i know its early to say this but maybe include it in a sequel story

Quill, paper, and a tray of dessert that otherwise would have burned anyone except for a dragon.

a tray of desserts that otherwise would have been burned for anyone except for a dragon. This is much clearer i feel.

Alright, but let’s not try to jump the shark.

An interesting idiom but one that seems very out of place for Twilight or anypony for that matter to know. if this was not a quote but in other text it would work as the audience would know but it seems like something the protagonists would not. Being that it is a reference to a television show.

I am looking forward to this sequel though. I have highly enjoyed your other stories.

“Yeah, Rainbow Dash said.

"Yeah," Rainbow Dash said.

“I wonder what other net things we can do with these new powers!”

other neat things.

“Nevertheless, it would have been very unladylike if I had flat out decline a request of another so abruptly, especially if it’s by the embodiment of harmony itself.”

declined

“Didn’t you say before how much you lamented not appearing to be as helpful as the other on your adventures?” Kain asked.

others

I love the cover artwork, but would it be possible to make it bigger?

7890365

Thanks for the help. That saying has always bothered me. I wonder if an oldie station messed me up when I was writing that story. And I'm glad you've joined us for this story.

7890385

Edits applied here as well. Thank you.

As far as the image goes. I'll try to double its sized to see if it doesn't get distorted.

Who is making those sprites in the pictures of your stories?

7973787

I am.

Backgrounds are off of various stuff on the internet.

Well, depending upon which flavor of scholar she is, Twilight may actually be quite adept at healing, as well as buffing her allies. But she could also end up with what I think is the least version of scholar and just get the bottom rungs of spells from white and black magic both, like a discount red mage.

I've been looking forward to this! Such a good story. One thing that bugs me is rainbows is treating the gift like a toy, which I'm guessing is going to come back and bit her latter. Also, very clever on setting up the party layout. As a fan of most things final fantasy (13 not with standing) that made me smile.

Thank you for the story and the time it took to read this comment,

Glad you're enjoying it so far.
I should be getting to an update soon, not to raise expectations.
While I wouldn't go as far as to use that description for Rainbow's feelings, I can see why you believe that. Its a bit hard to write excitement for her without her sounding that way.

Glad to see a update to this story and can't wait for more.
One question tho is how long before twilight realizes how powerful those tomes of her's really are.

8329203

Another chapter for you and all!

Also, it depends on how powerful you hold it to be.

7876660
Cannoneer was also in the later rereleases of FFV. It's...considerably better than it was in FFTA2.

8335552
Still though, a reptilian dude with a shoulder mounted cannon is a impressive concept.

Did Applejack Just learn Flametongue?

8343400
I think the skill is known as backdraft.

8343546
So yeah, Flametongue. They renamed it for FFXIV.

7876883
I assume you'll be adding things from ALL variations of the classes? Like Scholars having double potency on recovery items?

8343570
Yes, nothing will be precisely from only one iteration of that class.

Haven't played FFXIV, looks amazing though.

8343646
Sweet. Btw, Did you read the description for Backdraft(COUGHFlametongueCOUGH)?
AJ swung the ax so hard and so fast it ignited.

8343815
8343646

Backdraft, from my knowledge, is a fire-type attack, but it is also a double-edge skill and the user takes 10% of the damage they inflict on the enemy. Applejack didn't feel anywhere exhausted after use, so I think it is probably Flame Slash. Of course, she may have used Backdraft and, due to her magically-enhanced strength and endurance, not feel the aftereffects at all.

And Flametongue is actually now a sword imbued with fire in the series.

8343876
It's also an Ability. It HAS BEEN since at LEAST X-2. It was in several other games, like Crystal Chronicles, even. Also, Flame slash isnt even a THING in Final Fantasy. Unless you mean the Black Magic Sword thing with Vivi and Steiner....

8343876
8343926
Now there's a thought on Backdraft. I am definitely going to say its not flame slash, at least not the one being mentioned by Timelord.

8343926
8344009

In the original FFXIV, the one for PC before "A Realm Reborn", the Gladiator class have an ability called Flame Slash, or Fire Slash. I don't know which since I only seen a friend play the game.

And in FFV, one of the jobs can learn elemental abilities that upgrades their regular attacks for several turns, such as Fire Sword, Ice Sword and Bolt Sword. I can't remember the name of the job since I haven't played the game in a long time.

Of course, Flame Slash may not have been mentioned in FF and I may have confused it for the Dragon Quest series, but that isn't relevant. It is true that FFXIV did have it as a skill.

Oh, and in the Crystal Chronicles which I clearly remember everything because I've beaten it 4 times, Flametongue isn't a skill, but you can combine an Elemental Magicite with an unequipped weapon and use its charge ability to deal elemental damage. They just call it Flamestrike, Icestrike and Thunderstrike.

8344135
You're thinking of the FFV class, the Mystic Knight, That's not a Warrior skill. It just isn't. Flametongue, in the Japanese Version, is what they call it in CC when you use the Magicite with a weapon as a combo.
8344009
Yeah, which means the argument is completely pointless, since you have confirmed it to Be the Skill known as BackDraft. And Far be it from either of us to demand that you use a specific variation of the skill. And You've already pointed out that it's an AX and Flametongue is a Sword Ability.

8344170

Ah. Well, I only played the English version of CC, so I can't argue with that point.

8344170

8344188
Okay, settling this right now. Fighters in Tactics Advance have this specific ability, and yes it has recoil. AJ just hasnt felt it yet.

8344188
A hobby of mine is to look up the Japanese Scripts for games like that. Namely for Abilities and Areas. For Example, the FFXIV Dragoon Skill, Chaos Thrust, is actually called Lunatic Cherry Blossom. Fitting, since it throws the petals everywhere.
