Moonlit Path

People are not born equal. That's the hard truth I learned at age four. But that was my first and last setback. -Midoriya Izuku

What would have happened if Twilight had been given the choice about becoming an alicorn...about becoming a princess?

the potential came from within Twilight, By rejecting this she is rejecting herself

This is a nice story, I enjoyed it.

Hm...hm...

On one hand I see where you're going with this and it's mostly well written. On the other...Twilight is a bit OOC and I feel like this is one of those fics that try to "correct a mistake". Sometimes these fics are welcomed, but I feel that they come off as pretentious.

However, I'll review this as it is: for those who like the idea of Twilight truly having a choice instead of being "forced", you will not be disappointed. It's well-written, and although it's a bit rushed in some parts, I like that the story doesn't turn Celestia into a deviant like so many other stories with this kind of setup has done.

I would go on and explain my thoughts on Twilight's ascension and all, even as far as agreeing with garfan that by denying her ascension she is "denying herself", but at the same time there's no harm done seeing a possible alternative. What if she didn't become a Princess? What if she took a different path, like becoming a witch/wizardress like Starswirl? Or maybe she just needed more time.

So even though I don't exactly agree with what's being conveyed, I still like it. Again, if you're into fics like this, you will not be disappointed. :raritywink:

There is one story where Twilight realises what Starswirl was trying to do, and stops herself before reciting the spell and altering the Elements.

She sends a message to Celestia that "it's too dangerous to complete the spell", and that she won't do it, and recommends destroying the last page of the journal.

You can guess that Celestia was quite upset at that. :twilightsheepish:

7638401 and why would ascension be to dangerous? Candace achieved it

It's an artificially induced ascension. Cadance's happened naturally.

7638049 It's not really rejecting, she's just holding off until she thinks she's ready.

I get Twilight, you don't always want to rush things, even good opportunities for the greater ones instead.

And as Celestia said ONLY YOU can know when YOU are finally ready.

Celestia couldn’t help but pale slightly, before letting out an ‘innocent’ cough. “In my defense, Luna had chosen the spell to give you.”

Princess Celestia, mistress of shifting the blame.

Also, every time you used the word 'barriers' in reference to the Elements, you should have used 'bearers.' Barriers are obstacles. Bearers wield weapons.
