I think Ember would be interesting to hear Spike's singing.
Spike returns to the room carrying a big box...
Spike: "It's OK! I've found the gameing stuff..... say did you hear some funny noises just now?.... what... what happened to the table?!! All the tea things are on the floor and all the cakes are squashed like somepony's sat on them!"
Ember: "I.. Uhh.... slipped?... on a cake, aaaand landed on the table?"
Thorax: "Umm...I went to help her get off (ow!) the table, slipped on another cake and landed on Ember on the table."
I thought Thorax had more of a stagbeetle look to him really; look at his 'antlers' - they look like stagbeetle pincers.

Sorry, but this is all I can think of. I know, very sequel bait-like, especially since I won't be doing it. However, I'll be fine as a co-author if someone wants to make said sequel.

I really like the set and resolution here. Especially since the show has been already slowly on track with forging bonds with other nations for the last three seasons. We have Saddle Arabia, Marston IA, Crystal Empire, Yakyakkistan, Griffinstone, (as shown with the recent friendship summits), and now these last two.
Now we just need Diamonda, (Diamond Dog Kingdom), and the Centaur/Gargoyles lands ruled by King Vorak and Queen Haydon, plus their son Prince Scorpan. Maybe Season 7 will she'd some light on this idea. Either way great story.

And might I just say that isn't the whole point of the changelings to...change? If you can't accept this 'change' then what was the point of liking changelings to begin with?

7643826 And I don't think it needs mentioning, but Chrysalis is still at large, so there's always a possibility she's making love to herself right now so she can birth a fresh hive. Yeah I don't really know how a changeling queen gets pregnant in the first place without viable suitors, but whatever get her in the mood will probably get more of those dark changelings you like so much back on the scene again. And if not? There's always the fan animations, dude.
So give these new guys a chance. They might not come up that often in the show so you won't be bothered by them so much anyway, or if they get their own episode it might make you look at them in a better way.

It would have been really nice to have a spoiler warning on Chapter 2. The finale doesn't officially air until Oct 22nd.
This is small but it was Klutzy draconequus not silly draconequus. Unless in this fic the twist is that is a evil changeling disguised as Thorax.

You know, it didn't occur to me until just now, but Spike has helped FIVE people with their royal status. Thorax would not have been able to become a king if Spike hadn't helped convince ponies to give him a chance and be his friends. Ember would not have become Dragon Lord without his help. He saved the Crystal Empire, solidifying Cadance and Shining's positions as its new rulers. And Spike was there to cheer Twilight up and help her finish Starswirl's final spell which turned her into an alicorn princess...!
You know something, that would make an interesting concept for a story. Just imagine, various ponies from all over Equestria coming to seek his favor because they think he might make them into royalty. The possibility for shenanigans is immense.
The crazy thing is that there is now going to be an episode focusing on this same thing. Wait..... does that mean this guy is psychic?

Funny that this came out before Triple Treat but nonetheless enjoyable. Most of the story is just repeating old episodes but I can see that the intention was to show how Ember and Thorax are similar in terms of their lives somewhat and how they met Spike.
You should sue Hasbro. they totally took this idea away from you. Lol!

I know. Same could be said for my Mares in Black when the 100th episode revealed that Bon Bon was in fact a secret agent that handled dangerous creatures.
Ah 'Triple Threat' is the title of the episode...read about it on the Wiki and it honestly disappointed me. You did a WAY better job of Ember and Thorax becoming friends than that episode did, especially since I also see Spike as the type who'd be excited to introduce his friends to each other rather than nervous.
