Long Long Way From Home

I write stories!

E

When Timber told the story of Gaia Everfree to the campers at Camp Everfree, Applejack laughed it off as a silly bedtime story. Before the night is through, however, she will find out that even the toughest of girls needs some friendly support every now and then.

Short, but very sweet. I always love stories like this. You know, this actually reminds me a bit of the episode Sleepless in Ponyville in some ways.

Stories like this make Dash a lot more enjoyable as a character for me,

(Also, inb4 someone yells 'Now kiss!' :derpytongue2:)

Aww, this was a so cute! This was really well written! Will there be any more?

7624766 Except that Rainbow is a bit like Scootaloo and Applejack is a bit like her.

Wow. I don't like AJ at all, but kudos to her for making Rainbow feel better like a true friend would do. Why she isn't writen like this in the show?

Wow, I was expecting something completely different when I saw this pop into my feed.

7624840 Thanks! I'm glad you liked it! I might do a series of these with different pairings, but this was mostly meant to be a one shot.

7625171 Truth be told, this started as something completely different :P

Hope you weren't disappointed though!

Aaah it totally slipped my mind! But it looks great, and I really enjoyed the read!

It only goes to show that sometimes even the tough ones need comfort. So I applaud to you author.:pinkiehappy:

Feel like it would have been a more entertaining story if it was the other way around -- with AJ the "tough one" being scared. Applejack always struck me as one with more of a hidden side of her, and one with more secret fears that she keeps locked away. Would have been more interesting to see the rock of the group shaken as opposed to Rainbow, I think, and to see her be the nurturing, caring one. Her resistance to sappiness notwithstanding, I feel like Dash is capable of a great deal of compassion. Here, it would have been a chance to see that side of her, and let her be the one to embrace AJ and support her in her time of weakness instead of this, the more common interpretation.

It's all well and good -- finely written I suppose, and good grammar. Just... not at all original.

7627502 That's an interesting point! I honestly was just working off of the scene in the movie and interpolating from that, but I do agree that the concept of Dash fighting against her own perceived weakness is perhaps a bit overdone. She definitely is capable of great compassion (especially like we saw in Sleepless in Ponyville), but it didn't come to me while I was writing it. This wasn't intended to be anything groundbreaking anyways, just a bit of cutesy fluff. I appreciate your thoughts on it though!

Maximum D'awwwwwwws achieved

Why she isn't writen like this in the show?

She is. Look at "Bloom and Gloom" and "Sleepless in Ponyville" for good examples. She just didn't show that side as much this past season, unfortunately.

This is sweet, but I wanted to know exactly why Dash was so terrified of the story. It was good, but it needed more.

Yeah, I get your point. It's a shame because this is why Applejack is called a background pony.

I don't think Rainbow would ever be this scared but still liked the story. Keep making stories like these. I love reading them.
