Glen Gorewood

Hello and many salutations, I am a writer/ editor who has been stalking stories here for a few months now and finally gathered the courage to make an account. Cheers!

This story is a sequel to Final Say

After Roseluck's tragic suicide by wormwood, her brother Rose Blade laments on his lack of initiative in protecting the one thing he should have above all others. His sister.

All the times he should have intervened, or told his parents to just let her be, especially after what the two of them went through in childhood. Every moment that he could of done something, but was to blind by fear or praise and ignorance to do so.
He'd always believed his sister to be strong enough to deal with it alone, he was wrong.
And he regrets it deeply, as it haunts his dreams.

Why can't he tell the truth, with Luna at his side he can say he not lying he can denounce hsi parents and destroy thier reps for all time.
If they lash out they will prove it true more then ever.

I'm not to that part yet, this is chapter one of three.

As for why he hasn't spoken out yet, this is a very abusive family we are talking about. The parents are just beyond words in terms of bad. In Final Say this is hinted at, this part of the series is meant to show how bad it was. He has been conditioned to not say anything his entire life, he thought it was normal. Also he genuinely thought his sister was so strong that she could endure anything.

Short explanation is that Rose Sword was turned into the "Golden Child", while Rose Luck became the "Scapegoat".
In families where this happens the Golden Child can be aware of what is going on, but not the severity of it. In some cases, they think the Scapegoat is just a superhuman level emotionally strong person. Which is sort of what happened here. Rose Sword also thought his sister was safe being as far away from the family as she was.

However as Final Say showed, this wasn't the case. Unfortunately abusers rarely let their victims get away, especially when they are parents. Rose Sword is also dealing with his own guilt, if he says anything his only remaining family goes away. Even though they are complete and utter monsters, they are all he has left. Keep in mind he even admits he was conditioned by them to think everything was fine. This conditioning continued for years.

If he says nothing about what happened, justice may never be served. In which case he lives with this guilt forever, and resentment simmers over time towards the parents.

Keep in mind his parents have spent years creating this false narrative to the public about Rose Luck, so even with Luna on his side it would be a tough fight. His parents are pillars of the community, but nastier than the worst interpretations of the Blueblood family. They have major public standing and connections, even if they were to be prosecuted there would need to be absolute proof. Remember, there is documented medical proof (although likely fabricated) that Rose Luck was insane and delusional. The only proof proving the abuse is a journal written by that very mare who "has a history of mental illness", and a grief stricken testimony from her brother. Unfortunately in most cases, and Rose Sword is aware of this, that isn't enough to get justice and his parents would walk away.

What happens all depends on what Rose Sword decides to do.

Which will be shown in the next two chapters, and the sequel to this story.
