This feels very strongly OOC on Sunset's part, and the fact that Twilight's entire argument is pointing out this fact doesn't help matters. Sunnybun was completely over it by the time of Friendship Games. There's an entire song about her very loudly putting it behind her and embracing the good person she's become.
Also also, she has spent way too long in the human world to still be occasionally slipping into using the word 'pony'.
I see I'm not the only one who thought of Poison Ivy.

As Rogue can attest, powers that activate with a touch can kind of suck. Even without seeing buried resentment and loathing, Sunset would still perform the ultimate violation of privacy every time she came into contact with someone. It makes sense that she'd hesitate. The drama does feel somewhat manufactured—especially when the characters point that out—but the sincere character interaction is quite well done. Also, you perfectly captured Timber Spruce's blend of genuine niceness and horrible, desperate need to be liked.

Sweet dreams Sunnybun. When I started reading, I was half expecting a Rogue analogue (seeing too many of other people's thoughts), but this is way sweeter. Even if it does go back to Sunset's lingering guilt, but Sci-Twi's in a unique position to help her on that. I do kind of wish Sunset had gotten a different power, but great story focusing on the implications of it. Though I would worry about not just intruding, but also seeing way too much weird stuff (Pinkie for instance), but guess that goes back to the Rogue idea.

In real life, when non-fantasy bullshit prompts someone to shut people out, nobody notices or cares. It's such a small change, and a change not worth addressing because that person's behavior and social life are their own damn business. The only reason this fanfic happens is because Sunset is a cartoon character who is absurdly explicit in how she advertises her discomfort, like putting gloves on and broadcasting her jarring shifts in attitude.

One editing note, not sure about the glue joke. Does Timber know Sunset is a magical talking horse? Does he think the rest of the girls are?
