E

Inspired by the works of HP Lovecraft

Rainbow Dash is missing. The last person to see her was Twilight Sparkle, but she can't remember anything of the night she spent with the missing pegasus. But as her memories return, she may learn that certain things are better left forgotten.

And that certain caves are better left unexplored.

This made me cry and shiver, I hate to see a pony die, especially Dashie, and I hate dark places like caves with unknown creatures in them.:fluttercry:

Ohohoho Lovecraft.

I remember this... I forced myself to forget, but it seems this story is crawling back into my mind with its sharp claws...
Story's like these.... stick with you.

Goodbye Rainbow Dash...

Oh, I remember reading this before! You've had this on FF.net, I think, right?

Well, allow me to make up for not writing a review at that time then. I like this story. Your writing style is decent, though there are quite a number of spelling errors, so you should run through it once more to iron out the bugs, since some of them are quite glaring. The plot itself is good though, it reminds me of several Lovecraft short stories and it captures the essence of them mostly well, with the unseen evil and the prospect of something that cannot be reasoned with and a fate from which Rainbow cannot be saved. Splitting it up into past and present is a little confusing at time, but works decently for the most part. I'm gonna give you a 4 on this, though only if you promise to go back and do a serious spell-check on it.

Pretty well written... and now I be scared.

52985 Correctamundo! it was on FF.net before, but this seemed like a more ideal place for it. An yes, I'll be sure to go through and give it a serious once-over in the spell-checker.

53001 Trust my memory to work only in select situations. XD In any case, good to see your story here as well! Here's hoping to see more stuff from you!

:pinkiegasp:

*grins* Statement is a neat little story - they had a lovely adaptation of it in the Lovecraft issue of Heavy Metal

Huh, I wonder what the sudden slight spike of viewers is about? I'd practically forgotten about this story!

:raritycry: dashie is... is... dead?:fluttercry: nice story! wish it was longer :applecry:

...

oh great

a poorly-written recreation of a famous horror work by H.P. Lovecraft, all the way down to the questionable choice of all caps speech at the end, but instead of being a near-emotionless statement given by a man being interrogated by the police, a man who knows noone will ever believe him, with all the despair and pain that implies, we have Twilight just kind of sobbing, but also knowing that some people will believe her, and she won't be charged, so instead of existential horror on two separate fronts, we have vaguely sad fic about Rainbow being dead because of something or other.

Hell, lovecraftian works don't work so well in FiM because, if for no other reason, Celestia and Luna are essentially gods.

I mean, I was expecting inspiration, not...

nup.

out.

Time to go find real HP stuff so I can purge this.

4536085 Well, it was my first pony fic ever, and... yeah, it is kinda meh. As a great man once said to his animation class"You got a tonne of shitty drawings in you, best get them all out now."

4537029

Point, but it's hardly even a pony-fic, just a reskin of a more famous work.

Ah, Rainbow Dash. Trying to help even after you died--truly, Loyalty fits you.

An interesting adaptation of Lovecraft's work. Too... directly similar for my tastes, but you adjusted to the feel of the setting and the individual characters well enough that I didn't find great issue with it.

That is not dead, which can eternal lie.

And in strange untold eons, even death my die.

Eh.
