I would be surprised if Celestia even knows. It really sounds like she's a little bit broken inside. Given that, and her recent change in circumstances, it's not surprising that she's all over the place psychologically.
More of the latter.
.........
...What?
Celly's just broken.
I think she's building up for an elaborate plan to finally try and kill Jay, or Luna. Dunno how her mental state is doing.
Another amazing chapter, as usual.:D
Still feels like Celestia's being manipulative. I think she kinda evolved it as a defense mechanism.
Hell if I know, I'm just enjoying the ride
I find it interesting how in many long running stories where Celestia is doing things for the "Greater Good" or because she believes it to be the correct course of action, she is often driven insane with guilt... or just outright broken down mentally by the main character throwing the reality of all her mistakes and choices at her, it's rather sad and sometimes it makes me fell horrible to read about someone who attempted to do good only to fail and ruin any chance for peace (as is the case in this story...).

I'm not familiar with Unwind, I based that scene on having teeth pulled at the dentist. I'd wager Unwind did too, it's a pretty relatable phrase. Cool coincidence though.
Soooooo. I always saw the prototype story and abilities cool. But from a games viewpoint I could never really get into it due to how awkward the gameplay looked. (Don't comment back complaining or trying to defend the game, I'm sure it's a great one, I just was never able to get into it gameplay wise) anyways, with that explination out of the way, my question is : is it necessary too have played the prototype games to understand the story? Or can I just dive into this
8756617
Nah, I abandoned pretty much all of the game mechanics right away. I mostly took the concepts explained in the story, but reiterate them for those who haven't played the games. If you can stomach the horrible writing in the first few chapters (working on those right now actually) I don't think you'll have any problems following what's going on.

Alrighty, I'll definitely give it a try then.

I'm rewriting the first few chapters right now to clear all of those things up and fix the awful job I did.
You're absolutely right about the fire resistance, that was in reference to how dragons in the series are completely immune to it and how I'm keeping Jekyll from gaining that immunity. Even Superman has kryptonite.
"The Night Remains" by Whitechapel seemed more appropriate in theme and tone, though Cell rocking Blind Guardian was creepertastic. That said, I agree that metal has its place and should stay within those bounds. Perhaps I'll find a different song when I get back to that scene.

Well, that one green dragon did kind of hurt Spike with his fire breath during the owl episode. Then again it was magic fire so that's a moot point.
So you made him and dragon resistance incompatible then. You could specify there's a limit to how much and how quickly his strain can adapt. And I assume that even if he didn't get petrified faster than he could convert the stone back to biomass, I can only assume there would need to be some kind of diminishing return involved in the process.
Celestia could also employ unicorns to find a potent enough antiviral spell, or maybe a fast enough transfiguration spell. Also, viruses aren't entirely unaffected by cold, they go into hybernation in extreme low temperatures.
The inability to replicate in water was pretty cool as a kryptonite in my opinion. The ultimate contagion, weakened by the source of life.
8762423
fair points all around, I'll make them into notes for the rewrite. I disagree on the water thing, that was shoehorned in to justify the limits of the play area in game. Water is teeming with bacteria and other microorganisms, viral creatures like that should have a field day in water.
8762813
It is pretty dumb when you think about it. I suppose I'm just a sucker for the poetic.
There would also be the retrospective matter of how, when Jack landed in Equestria 'back in the day', their sciences should've been pretty medieval. They probably didn't even know what a germ was, thinking sickness was a sort of demon spread through 'miasma'.
8762990
I...hadn't thought of that, I'll make sure to factor it in. Shouldn't be too hard, I only just got to the first time he uses the word virus to describe himself.

I only made that link right before I wrote the comment. I had the video fresh on my mind since I had it linked at one point in my next chapter, I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have figured it out otherwise.
8763846
I know that feel very well
Can you take a quick visit to the kraken squad I loved reading their way of communicating with one another. It helps me bring order to the visual I make of the story in my head.
8768893
I don't really have anything for them to do at the moment, but they'll be seen again. If I can think of a mini-storyline for them, I'll add it in. They're one of my favorites too.
8785334
Thanks for the Cadance correction, it caused me to find a few other errors in the chapter.
Abaddon's next line should give enough of a hint, I left it intentionally ambiguous.
Did you redo chapter 1 and 2?
-Sanguine Dream
Yep, they sucked so I made them stop doing that. Also Fimfic isn't letting me reply directly.
8802861
Huh, I wonder if there's a little site trouble.
8803165
Seems to work now, before it was just kicking me to the bottom of the page without adding the reply thing.
8803190
Weird.

I've mentioned in previous chapters that Jay has left and resettled there a few times, with each allowing for a resettling of the region and rebuilding of Ponyville. But for the most part, yes he just fell into the boring day to day for a few hundred years. Big part of why I only call back to the interesting bits.
Great news there is now a Prototype tag
Those two enforcers are goin to fall in love arent they?
I have suspended a lot of disbelief for this story alone, but funny enough, this is where I draw the line. Plants can feel touch, but they do not feel pain. Plants can not think, but they are not dumb. Plants are neither sapient, nor sentient. Pain requires sentience and nerves. Plants experiencing pain is a myth that pisses me off.
9575003
Really? Not the complete inconsistency of Celestia's personality? But the fact the plants being grown by magical ponies of a fictional world can feel pain?
9575003
You're misinformed. The thing is that whole plant is a nerve. Unlike our organism, each cell can generate action impulse, operating like nerve, changing water pressure by electrically-controlled membranes, they move.
You might want to edit that.
Jay is 1000is years in Equestria and to his own admission is rich as fuck. Income on mass wile basicly having no regular upkeep of anything...
your
A cruel job for everyone involved. Rational thinking i say one is less than two, 100.000 is less than 1.000.000 but to bad it often is the ones that died that should have survived in this kind of line
