Chapter 1

Once upon a time, in the land called Equestria, there lived a creature known as a Draconequus. The Draconequus was named Discord, because he enjoyed discord, which is a synonym for chaos. For this reason, he had befriended the handsome unicorn known as Shining Armor, who had introduced him to his favorite tabletop role-playing game: Dungeons and Dragons.

Discord loved Dungeons and Dragons. Out of all the tabletop role-playing games in the whole world, it was the one which he liked the best.

One day, Discord visited Princess Twilight Sparkle, who was the prettiest, smartest, nicest, most special pony princess in all of Equestria. Every pony loved Twilight Sparkle, as her beauty was unrivalled by any other mare in the land. Every time Equestria was in danger, Princess Twilight Sparkle was called on to save the day. Even though she had been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder as a filly and was yelled at by bullies all the time, like having her head dunked into a toilet and having chewed-up bubble gum stuck in her hair, she overcame these things and became a celebrity. Yet, Twilight Sparkle was so kind and so forgiving that she forgave her childhood bullies, and with the magic of friendship, she reformed them and made them into good ponies.

“Greetings, Princess Twilight Sparkle,” said Discord.

“Greetings, Discord,” said Princess Twilight Sparkle.

“Have you heard of this wonderful game called Dungeons and Dragons?”

“Indeed I have. It is a tabletop role-playing game where players create avatars of themselves and transport themselves to a beautiful fantasy world where their existence makes a difference in the world, and they’re not kicked around by everypony for tiny laughs.”

“That is correct. That is why I love this game so much. Because it is my one escape from other ponies who hate you for no reason and get joy out of making you suffer.”

Princess Twilight Sparkle smiled. “I’m glad fantasy worlds exist. When I was a filly, I thought: Even if it’s a tiny break from other ponies who not only kick me around and abuse me, but also don’t tell me why and have my confusion add to my misery, which makes them more happy since I am more miserable. Even if it’s a tiny break from a cold existence that exclusively rewards the ponies who abuse me and make me miserable. It’s something.”

“And what about Shining Armor?”

“I love my brother. He was all I had in this world before I became a Princess. Whenever I would walk back from school, looking down that bridge and thinking of jumping off it, I would think of my brother.” Princess Twilight Sparkle sighed. “I remember one day, I looked down a bridge. I was about to jump off it. I thought, ‘I’m sick of these bullies getting their laughs out of abusing me. If the only way to make it stop is to jump off that bridge, then I will do it.’ But then, my brother, Shining Armor, was coming home from school and stopped me in the nick of time.

“He said, ‘Twilight, stop! Don’t jump off the bridge!’

“I said, ‘Why not?’

“And then he said, ‘because you’ll die.’

“But then I told him I wanted to die. He asked me why. I told him it was because I was tired of all the bullies who threw dirt in my face and called me bad names behind my back, and that I wanted to make them pay by taking away their toy and making them feel guilty by making myself go away forever. And you know what he said?”

“What?” asked Discord.

“He said that my death would not affect them at all, and that they would just find a new toy to play with. He told me the pure, honest truth: That everypony else was lying when they said ponies were capable of empathy, guilt, and remorse. He told me that their existence was a myth, a thing from fiction, and that only suckers believed that they existed in reality. ‘False pretenses for gaining others’ trust and eliciting forgiveness,’ he called it. Then, he told me that the news of me jumping off the bridge would only make them laugh really hard, and the only pony it would negatively affect would be him, the only pony in the world who ever cared about me in my entire life and who didn’t enjoy seeing me in pain. Since everypony else had only lied to and abused me before, I had to believe him.

“So I felt really sad. And so I told him I wouldn’t jump off the bridge. He smiled at me and hugged me. It was wonderful. One of the very few happy moments I ever had before I became a Princess.”

“Wow,” said Discord. “That is a truly touching story. And now here you are, the greatest Princess who ever lived, living in the best castle there ever was and solving all the world’s problems with the magic of friendship.”

“Yes,” Princess Twilight Sparkle said. “His advice and emotional support helped me greatly. I love him so much.”

Discord smiled sweetly at Princess Twilight Sparkle. “It’s good to have a pony in the world who cares about you. People who don’t want to see you suffer are so rare in this world. I wish I had some pony who cared about me.”

“But you do,” Princess Twilight Sparkle said.

“Really?” Discord asked. “Well, who? Who is it?”

Princess Twilight Sparkle hugged Discord. “It’s me. I am the pony who cares about you, Discord. Not Fluttershy, or any pony else. Only me.”

Discord hugged Princess Twilight Sparkle back. “That’s wonderful. I love you, Princess Twilight Sparkle.”

“I love you too, Discord.”

And then Discord moved to the Friendship Castle in Ponyville where Princess Twilight Sparkle lived. There, Discord married Twilight. Every pony in Equestria came to the wedding, and it was such a touching thing that even Princess Luna shed tears of joy. And then they lived happily ever after.

Really cute story, and really introspective.

This is a very good one-shot. I am so sorry about you sister being bulled and then being the hospital.

On the one hand, that authors note.

On the other hand, it's Decanus.

Huh.

I'm just gonna go to bed.

Ughhh... I can appreciate this, and I hope you and your family are feeling..... okay.....but I don't like Twicord. Gave an upvote anyway.

Upvoted and fav'd. May God bless your sister in this trying time.

I hope your sister does well, keep posted? Heh, if she enjoys any of my stories, I'll be more than glad to hear her out for any ideas she might one and draw one up for her. Knight's Honor and Author's Code! Tis a good story, for one with so much to hang on to.

Amazingly written for a seven year old. I, too, always felt that Twilight probably has autism. Being on the spectrum myself, I identify very strongly with her.

But one thing i would say to your sister: It's not true that you can have only one good friend. Putting down Discord's friendship with Fluttershy isn't necessary to say that Twilight loves him. A guy can be good friends with a girl and still like another girl as his girlfriend. That was the only thing i felt didn't work in this story. Twilight should have said that Fluttershy is his friend but that she, Twilight, loves him as more than a friend.

A very nice story. Very impressive for a seven year old. Hopefully your sister is doing fine. Also, at the rate the upvotes are coming in I think this story has a good chance of being featured:twilightsmile:

An interesting idea and a good short read. And do not give up hope on your sister, there are many options for cancer treatment and there is much that can still be done. Trust in your doctors and know that they will do everything in their power to save her. The chemo will make her very sick but it will also destroy her cancer cells and prevent it from spreading, so the sickness means it is working. If that fails then surgery and proton therapy are some of the other options your doctor could use. A word of caution: some people may dislike your sister's story because they might think you are faking this so that people up-vote and feature your story out of sympathy. It's the internet and it's hard to tell when someone is telling the truth. Personally I believe in judging a story by how well it is written. That being said I like this story for it's content and it is very impressive for a 7 year old, although I agree that you should not expect it to be featured. If it isn't do not assume that people are cruel, there are thousands of good stories competing for attention. It is a feat just to make it on the popular stories page let alone be featured. I congratulate your sister for making it to the top 30,000 stories here in one day, far better than either of my stories which have only made it to the top 90,000 after a year. It probably isn't much, but it might cheer her up a tiny bit to know that she writes better than thousands of grown men and women including myself.

Not bad for a seven year old. It's a shame about your sister. If she does die, she was taken too young. I hate her bullies on principle, having suffered it myself.

That's intense

Seven years old? Talented. Bless her. :fluttercry:

Congratulations the story has been featured

If your sister dies, I hope she does so peacefully.

7533708 He says his sister wrote that?

You now have 100 likes on this story:twilightsmile: I truly hope your sister gets better, and I don't know if you believe in prayer, but I will be praying for her. I know what it's like to be bullied, and I also know what it's like to see someone you love in the hospital when it doesn't look like they'll make it. I think this is sweet, and incredibly well written for a seven year old. While I am not a fan of Twicord, I think the way your sister wrote it is adorable.

I hope for the best. I'm sorry this happened.

Did you read the rules?

I mean, I think every once in a while we can let a rule slide, under extreme cicircumstances like this.

7536457 He's one of those 4chan guys. Really, between all the death threats me and my sister are getting and all the accusations against my sister even existing, we don't need the mods kicking her in the teeth over an extreme interpretation of a minute site rule.

They also bombed the downvote button to keep the story from getting featured. It worked; sister's devastated. Regardless, thanks to those of you who've been supportive of her. Your concern is definitely appreciated.

I've made no threats to you, and only pointed out a genuine story disrespecting a basic rule. Rules weren't put there to be ignored.

Your story has gathered 119 likes and 14 dislikes, a 8.5:1 ratio, which is higher than at least six stories on the featured box, in addition to doing it all in three days. It had about 9 dislikes before our thread got involved, and has then gathered five. If you call five downvotes "bombing the downvote button" and don't care about the fact your story has a respectable L:D ratio and so does your "sister", I can't get what's wrong with you "both".

7538020 It's really more the fact that people would dislike a story out of spite than any sort of ungratefulness on my or her part. That goes tenfold for a story belonging to a seven year old girl with cancer who had it fairly rough even before terminal illness hit her. Really, I'm surprised that the ratings are as good as they are. Sister was expecting there to be practically nothing but downvotes; being proven wrong has made her happy regardless of this whole spat with 4chan.

This would probably be a heartwarming gesture if your sister existed. Oh well.
