Another guy working his butt off for not enough pay, but still loves to spoil his wife whenever he can, and spending time with his little girl.

On a whim, Rarity runs off to see Zecora about a certain variety of tea. En route she happens across Aengus Meagher, a Pokémon trainer with questionable morals who has hit his wall, unable to defeat Bruno of the Indigo League's Elite Four. Aengus is on a journey, traveling far from his home region on a quest to find something, anything that could help him overcome this stumbling block. Somehow he slips into Equestria for a few minutes, and out in the Everfree happens across a certain white unicorn, and, well...

Rarity gets caught.

These are their adventures.

So...the new tag thing complicates how I’m gonna put this out there. The story doesn’t start needing a Dark tag, but it will grow Dark as it goes on. There are at least two other “tags” that will spoil major plot points later on, and thus are left off.

Not your typical Pony-Pokémon crossover, although you will get exactly what it says on the tin. Some chapters are more about the comedy, others about the drama, though most will have some of each. Sex tag for innuendo.

Now with suggested music for a given section; look for the itty-bitty hyperlinked text. Most of these tracks are from the Pokémon series and side games, appropriate to where they are (but not all of them...sometimes I was looking for a certain vibe I couldn't find in the OSTs); it's just what I thought would fit best in a given area.

Names chosen were based off of common given and family names of selected nationalities in combinations where I know no one personally with either. Any likeness to any person, real or in a different fictional story, is purely coincidental (hooray, C.Y.A. disclaimers).

I'll admit, the angle from which this story is told is kind of usettling, as a lifelong Pokémon fan. The good kind of unsettling, though. Makes me interested to see where this is going.

Also, even if this never updates again (which I hope won't be the case)... dude, you got a baby. How you managed to be willing enough to write even this is beyond me. Know your priorities, and thank you for what's already here.

Certainly has a lot of potential to poke fun a some Pokemon Videogame tropes.

Though I wonder how will the rest of the Mane 6 react?

Also, you would think Rarity would learn Sing and Attract for her singing voice and her charm on stallions.

Look forward to more:heart:

Hopefully there will be some good friendship lessons learnt from both Pokemon Trainer and the ponies.

I wonder if this story will end with a legendary pokemon battle?

Who else has watched tfs plays pokemon soulsilver nuzlocke? If you havent i fijd it kinda funny their starter a chicorita is naked Mr. Steak...or is it stake i cant remeber but i just thought of that unkillable monstrr when i saw the authers name.

Also great story trixie has got to be fairy fire

Thanks. The idea randomly popped into m' head (in June), and I've been slowly getting it down, very little on any given day. I'm gonna see if I can set aside some time, now that I've got this published. Even had to set aside typing this reply for a good hour and a half to attend to the little one, who decided to munch on a cork coaster, and then coughed up all her apple juice onto me. :ajsleepy: New coasters are on the list....

I've played every generation of the game so far, and from time to time wondered what it was like inside the ball. I also watched m' suspension of disbelief fade away when considering how Rarity would take being in there, that everything sounds hunky-dory in-universe, but outside of it...looks not-so-innocent.

I’ll play the slave driver

Probably best not to have this at all in this chapter:twilightoops:

7647547 i love this fic :pinkiehappy: but one question with out spoilers: why the sex tag? just for sex jokes or is this going to get weird?

Have some data for Trixie:

Trixie
Psychic type
Ability: Magician
Nature: Quirky (or Modest, if you want to be cheeky)
Moves: Smokescreen, Bind, Swagger, Trick

7647630
Without spoilers...innuendo/jokes, and there are more to come.

7647570
Aengus is of questionable moral standing; he's gonna say and do things that might not jive well with ya'.

7647655
Not bad. Did somebody go and make a Pokémon dossier on all the major MLP characters already?

7647672

No, I just thought that up in like 5 minutes.

Anyway, I just had an idea pertaining to what I'd like to see happen. Assuming Twilight brings the rest of the Main Six, and they can't just rescue the two unicorns by force, It would be hilarious if they just traded Rainbow Dash for Rarity. It's a win-win: Aengus gets a better competitor for his league run, and Rarity doesn't have to get her hooves dirty. Plus, Dash would probably very much enjoy an excuse to punch monsters in the face until they faint.

7647547

and from time to time wondered what it was like inside the ball.

Heh, who hasn't wondered about that at one point or another?

On a semi-related note: Have a random video on somebody else's idea of what it's like to be in the PC. :derpytongue2:

[youtube=eiUmCjNo-Gc]

You know at some point rarity will want to be in a different ball
:raritydespair::oh darling, you know that ball absolutely tacky and don't go with me at all,...

I don't know maybe the Premium Ball

7648154 Rarity would more likely want to be in a luxury ball:raritystarry:

Already had a thought to this effect, and have something in mind. Be patient. :raritywink:

"Has anypony seen Rarity lately? She missed our spa appointment and she never ever misses our spa appointments." :fluttershysad:

"Can't say that I have, sugarcube." :applejackunsure:

"I haven't seen her either." :rainbowhuh:

"Maybe she was caught by a furless miniature monster trainer and now she has to battle cute and fuzzy seizure critters for honor and glory!" :pinkiegasp:

"I am sure that's not the case, Pinkie." :facehoof:

Will Keldeo make an appearance along the line?

7650342
You'll just have to keep reading to find out, ya know? :raritywink:

Havnt kept up with Pokémon enough to know any creatures or towns, but this is turning out to be a really good read! Can't wait till the next chapter is out.

This fucking story. Naturally I had to read it not long before playing the Pokemon Sun & Moon demo, and congratulations, you made me feel guilty for catching pokemon.

I now desperately want to see fanart of Rarity in the EXP Share.

I somehow get the impression neither Aengus nor Paddy have even the slightest intention of letting Trixie and Rarity go after their victory.

7660446
:twilightoops:
Wasn't meaning to invoke guilt....

It'll be cool if you switch povs from Rarity to Trixie and Twilight as well now and then

Good choice for all the pokepuns of the videogames:rainbowlaugh:

Maybe try some funny pony puns as well lol.

I wonder... if Tirek got caught here wouldn't it be funny if he was renamed?

7660825
Naturally. I remember when these were new; I followed 'em then. :rainbowlaugh:

I can't remember whats in the town Trixie is heading to. What is it again they are going to do?

7660658
That was semi-sarcastic, but the story did put a perspective on pokemon catching/training that I'm sure most people have never considered,

7661307 Daycare center.
Best-case scenario: He's planning to have the daycare staff level Trixie up as far as possible, in exchange for money.
More-likely-case-scenario: He's going to try and breed Trixie (probably with a Ditto), in order to get a "Trixie" with perfect IV stats.

Lol this is good so far.
Kick his ass Rarity! :raritywink:

7647570
Eh, the ethics of Pokemon has always been dubious. I don't see any problem with acknowledging that.

On an unrelated note I'm a bit bummed Rarity didn't throw him through a wall.

Looking forward to reading more of this story.

...Granted my anticipation mostly revolves around whatever is going to happen when Twi figures this out and sets out to rescue Rarity.

7660727 oh god yes let it be his playtime/prison and have cerberus with him too as legendarys

Well damn. Rarity and I guess Trixie are massive boons with those movesets. I liked how you did the move reminder trick though. Does that mean move reminders have some latent psychic ability?

7683951

Probably. Actual Psychics in the game can literally levitate stuff.

7683951
7683995
It seems so. I can't imagine how they could do that any other way. Sure, it probably helps if they're intricately familiar with what any given species can learn, but there's only so much that knowledge can do.

7684256 Movie hypnosis! ...which is also psychic in pokemon. Nevermind.

And there are better Electric-types; I have a well-trained Eelektross, and Paddy has a Zebstrika. Ampharos, Luxray, and Electivire also are statistically stronger than a Raichu with solid move sets. Jolteon and Magnezone are stronger too, but what they can learn...just isn’t up to snuff as far as I’m concerned.

......you don't play competitive, do you? Ah, well, here's a bit of a briefer on the Pokemon you mentioned

Pokemon, Tier, Viability Ranking in that tier:
Magnezone, OU (overused), B+

Mega Ampharos, UU (underused), B-

Jolteon, RU (rarely used), A-
Eelektross, RU, C

Electivire, NU (never used), B-

And finally, the PU tier, which is called that because these Pokemon STINK in competitive:
Zebstrika, PU, A+
Raichu, PU, B+
non-Mega Ampharos, PU, C+
Luxray, PU, D

If you ever need to check tiers, head to the Smogon strategy dex, and each tier has a viability rankings thread on the Smogon forums

Also, I'm just gonna leave this here.
s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/d8/1e/49/d81e49e49656564c6ed354cfe43d0940.jpg
(technically he's a move DELETER, but it'd work just as well with a move REMINDER)

Wait, I'm confused. Aengus said that Rarity has a high Sp. Attack, right. How are her other stats, cuse something tells me that she ether has bad speed or bad Defense/ Sp. Defense
Edit: I shall wait patiently like a shiny hunter should be

7684366
Nah, I don't have time for competitive play, not with a wife, daughter, and a full time job. I did know about Smogon though. The guy admitted to being 0-7 against the same guy in the Elite Four; there's probably a reason for that, and it may have to do with something you just mentioned, eh?

I did notice your reference when I read it, but now I can't remember what it was... Oh well.

On with my comment.

So the dude seriously keeps Pokemon in his box to do a job he could easily accomplish with a pencil and notepad? Stop being so lazy and let that poor thing go already.

I also heard you started working night shift. Been doing the same thing for four years now... One of us... One of us...

Rarity not knowing what a horse is kinda out there and ridiculous especially since horse is referenced in the show.

7685555
And the CMC had their "Hearts As Strong As Horses" tune too. Trouble Shoes was the only one who may have been big enough to be a horse. But to me, it seems unlikely that in a world dominated by small equines that there'd be the much larger horse abound.
Guess the joke didn't fly.... :ajsleepy:

7686246 the Saddle Arabians seen at the Equestria Games could have also been horses.

Wow just one PLAY ROUGH and Rarity took down a Jolteon... I'm impressed
Also her reaction to it falling asleep after she used SING was priceless :rainbowlaugh:

7709569
Play Rough is a pretty strong move physical move. Add that to Jolteon's low base physical defense and HP, Rarity getting a STAB, that Jolteon was asleep, and then a critical hit...suddenly dropping it that quick isn't so shocking.

7709907 I thought Rarity wasn't a strong physical attacker and low leveled?

7710154
She's probably not the best, but she's not too bad. In most of the scraps in the show, Rarity's been kicking instead of blasting away with her horn a la Twilight. As for level, she's not up there with Aengus's main team, but she's no slouch. Also, Jolteon's physical attack is nothing to write home about, but even with that and without a STAB nor crit he almost dropped Rarity with one blow.
