He who overcomes shall inherit all things.

In high Canterlot, there is a pony who is a Prince, but not an alicorn. His friends are what his wealth and splendor can buy. His pride is his name: Blueblood. His vanity and arrogance knows no bounds, his aunt has no idea what to do with him, and his bubble of power and prestige remains secure.

But before that, he was just a very small pony in a very big house, with much life still not lived. This is the story of those days, and all that came after.

SHE ASKED ME SON WHEN I- ...whoops:twilightoops:

This is good. That is all.

Interesting start, can't wait to see more.

This is a very strong start for what promises to be an interesting story.

write more and i might spare your life...

Alright. We'll see where this goes.

Cool cant wait for more

Great chapter. T'gallant is quite the character, but I find myself fascinated more by the relationship between the Duke and his son.

The duke is eerily similar to my father.

I hate my father.

Agreed. I loved the description of T'gallant's wig, especially.

Holy shat this is good. I always liked the potential Blueblood's history has but this is realizing it in a spectacular way.

This story is living up to that tragedy tag alright.

show the same aptitude for magic your father did. He was very ”

It seems that this sentence stops short.

shall be set upon a which

You don't need that solitary a.

Also, solid chapter. Awesome stuff.

Frankly, I find him more interesting than most of the antagonists on the show specifically because his crime seems to be more of willful ignorance than true nastiness. How does someone grow up deliberately acting like the biggest fool anyone's ever met? That's what I want to know.

Considering how many stories get the sad tag, you'd think that would work in my favor.

Thank you! I am often unable to find a quick editor and usually have to run through chapters myself these days.

I can't even describe how much I love this story. It really brings Blueblood to life as a character. And that is some potent melancholy, the kind you can savor for many hours.

Bravo, and may there be many more chapters. :)

You can be sure there will be! I'm glad the melancholy comes through.

I decided to give this story a try and I'm really quite moved and enjoying it, but I remain a bit wary... While I have enjoyed a number of Blueblood stories I have never cared for the ones that portray his shallow behavior at the gala as some kind act or deception, especially with the idea that Rarity somehow deserved such treatment. Blueblood here is such a thoughtful young colt that it's hard to imagine him shutting down so completely into the foppish, insensitive tool we were introduced to in the actual episode. While it would certainly be a fascinating journey to get from here to there and then back again, I don't know that is where it is heading.

Really though, what you have written so far is wonderfully touching, rich and descriptive. Orion's talk with Celestia lived up to the massive anticipation the colt built in himself and the readers.

7729722 I'm just excited to see where you take this. I obviously have my own head canons about Blueblood's actions but i think that the fact that there's a story exploring a more developed Blueblood is awesome.

If I pull off this story in the way I hope I will, then Blueblood's transformation into a dunce will be anything but a cruel deception to those around him. I never much liked that idea either; much more interesting to have him act the way he does because of events in his life making him turn out that way.

And to anyone wondering, yes House of Gold by Twenty One Pilots is the major inspiration for this story.

7732277 Excellent to hear... I'm eager to see where young Orion goes from here!

Damn, Red. This is something else. I mean, this is really starting to pick up now and I'm very excited for the next chapter.

This is the second time I've seen this story around... god damn I need to get past my readers block and check this out.

Blueblood angst seems more violin to me.

There are no words left to say.

Another good chapter, here.

Even though you see Orion's conflict with his father, and his sadness, the prospect of going to Canterlot seems like something that could be good for him.

Holy shit, this first chapter is absolutely fantastic.

Red, this story is a fucking masterpiece.

I'm always shocked how much time I let pass between chapters.

Dat tragedy tag. I can only assume Orion and Celestia's relationship starts well but degrades over time.

But they're so cute together now!

Aha... so we reach the beginning of his Canterlot days! I quite enjoyed seeing the city and palace through his eyes.

Brilliant chapter, looking forward to the next.

Canterlot! Jewel of Equestria, apple of the Sun's eye, seat of the equine powers for over a thousand years!

But we really shouldn't go there. 'Tis a silly place.

Time passed them by like a rich man passed the poor.

Rereading this for the third time and damn do I wish I'd written this line. That is marvelous.

“Oh,” Celestia said, shortly. “That’s just a draconequus. It was a gift in poor taste.”

I'm sorry, but this is just funny. Leave it to Discord to be "in poor taste" even as a statue. If she thought he was so goofy-looking, she could have hid him somewhere no one would see him. I love this little Discord cameo. :twilightblush:

Please write more. I love Prince Blueblood and want to see why he becomes the asshole he is in the Best Night Ever.

I'm really appreciating your deific Celestia, and the feeling of weight and history that would exist in such a place.

Thank you for the story so far!

I found myself thinking of this story lately. Hope to see it wake up some day.

I hope this story comes back Im in love with it so much
