Rainbow Dash's parents were killed by a serial killer when she was 10. Her last memory of them was star gazing on a grassy hillside in Ponyville. Every day she goes to that same grassy hillside and gazes up at the stars. That's where she meets Soarin. Soarin's mom was also murdered, right after his father let the family.
