A good story displays a moral, the best ones attach you to the characters who display them.

Sequels1

This story is a sequel to Why Winter Wrap-Up?

After finishing her favourite book trilogy, and coming across a particularly peculiar ending, Starlight approaches Twilight with a simple question.

A simple question, with a complex answer.

Inspired by Summer Dancer, go check her stuff out!

Oo, I like this! Great job! :yay::heart:

You smacked me with a rock hard misdirection.

Good on you, and I really enjoyed the way you wrote the story.

Keep up the good work!

This was such a good short story! :pinkiegasp::pinkiehappy:

Thank you two so much! :pinkiehappy::twilightsmile:

7419194 You're welcome! :raritywink:

7419177 Lol apologies, I'm on my phone and I mistagged your story :rainbowlaugh:

7419222 I accidentally put it in my comedy story bookshelf while I was placing it in the sweet and cute stories bookshelf :twilightblush:

That's alright, I forgot to add the "Comedy" Tag! :rainbowlaugh:
That actually helped, thanks again!

An excellent lesson there. Don't be sad that it's over, be happy that it happened.

I read the part about Clive Staples Lewis and it all made sense! Great story btw!

I don't see how this a comedy.

It's a sweet little story! Don't get me wrong. But it didn't even try to tell any jokes. This was more of a Slice of Life, through and through.

Thanks! It means a lot that you all like it so much!

And the humor is light, and subtle, but it's in there!

"When a story stops telling itself to me inside my head, there's no need for me to continue writing. And if I try, it only sounds forced."

Huh...

This is my new favorite non-comedic quote.

This is a lesson quite a lot of authors (and readers ) should take to heart. Excellent story.

I hate it when I get done a good book. I guess the good thing is that the book can be read again.

Precisely.
Thank you for reading. :yay:

Terrific story, Amethyst. I love the way you write the relationship between Twilight and Starlight. Honestly. I wish I had your talent for doing so.

Well, maybe not for those two characters (I personally like writing original ones as it gives me more creative freedom). Rather, I mean I wish I had your talent for writing quiet, emotional moments.

You're extremely good at doing them.

Keep it up. :)

Thank you, I am both honored and humbled.

I’ve wondered the same thing before, “How come (wonderful and totally awesome) stories have to end.” The same goes for TV shows, the show is awesome, but the storyline finishes and the show keeps on going anyway, then the TV show loses point and is less fun. I’ve noticed this generally happens with TV shows that have the entire season based on the same topic, those can become really annoying. I liked your C.S. Lewis quote at the end.

Definitely.

Thank you for the compliment, and thank you for reading! I'm glad you enjoyed this.

'Why, to think of it, we're in the same tale still! It's going on. Don't the great tales never end?'
'No, they never end as tales,' said Frodo. 'But the people in them come, and go when their part's ended. Our part will end later – or sooner.”

Thought that might be and apt alternative viewpoint.

Ironically there's a sequel to this. Good story.

Sniff.

Odd that this brings a sniff/tear, but it does.

How did that quote go? "The end? There is no end. There is mearly the point where the story tellers stop telling stories."

Perfect lesson especially with Gen 4 coming to a close

Twilight cocked her head. "How do you mean, Starlight?"

I think you mean "what"
"How do you mean" doesn't make any sense

Other than that the story was amazing!

I appreciate the feedback! But that was intentional, "How do you mean?" is a common English term that means basically the same thing as "what do you mean?"

10373200
Oh
Sorry I’ve never heard of the term :/

10373418
No worries! I do appreciate the input regardless.

"...my Faithful Student."

Alright. Who let the Onion Ninjas in again? You just had to do that to us. On top of the rest of the story. You are evil beyond hope of redemption for doing so...

Great story by the way.
