After the failed assault on Canterlot, Chrysalis's changelings abandon her. She knows the other changeling hives won't accept her, not after her pride. She is forced to go to Canterlot, where a certain Mare of the Night finds her.
Luna is depressed. Celestia insensitively brings up Nightmare Moon while Cadence leaves for the Crystal Empire. When she encounters a new bug-like mare, she confronts her sister, encouraged by her new bug friend.
This is a tale of the Moon, of Bugs and of the Sun. But most importantly it's about family, friendship and love. It's a tale Of Insects and Moons.

Mmh, yes. In addition to the reasons Chryssy stated, I've always liked the concept that the "Godly" individuals have unique abilities. For example, Alicorns are said 'godly' individuals. Celestia can manipulate heat waves and light, but to a much greater extent than Calliphora, this is due to her deriving her power from a greater strength: The Sun. So it's technically only Sunlight she can manipulate, but, details, details.
Luna herself can manipulate the Shadows and Dreamscape, she's virtually omnipotent in the Dreamscape, and as such, can do anything she pleases with it.
Cadence can influence emotions, but she has stronger ties to the strongest emotions, Hate and Love, but she prefers and views Love as stronger.
The Changeling Queens all have their special abilities from adaptations to their environment and their status as Queens, which, unlike the other changelings, are much much more potent, as seen when Chrysalis defeated Celestia (that wasn't all from Shining Armor, y'know).

In terms of ability, I would think that Changelings are. But they still are behind ponies due to their warring and behaviors. Ponies rarely war, and they've made great strides since the early days.
And, to ascend to the Celestial Council, one must be a godly individual and have a strong race to support them. Chrysalis technically qualified, as she technically united the Changelings, although loosely. When push comes to shove, Miasma and Ambrosia wouldn't support Chrysalis. Calliphora might, Lacera would but Myxine would not risk her hive, that's why she hasn't ascended. (In my headcanon, that's why Celestia and Luna have their special manes. Cadence and Twilight don't have it because they haven't ascended.)

7489351 Actually, that's debatable, war is what drives advancements in many fields and would make them stronger, especially if they keep improving their gene pool towards greater abilities.
The unity part I guess makes sense. Though, one could just expand their hive to their limits to qualify.
I wonder if there are griffon gods. So far we've only seen Alicorn gods for five reason. Our I might be remembering this wrong.
