The beginning of the 18th century seems bright for the Swedish Empire, led by Charles XII. His foes defeated just a few years prior and an unstable peace looms. Parts of Norway, Latvia and Estonia as well as Pomerania now belongs to a new, powerful Sweden in the north.
However, the future is cast into uncertainty as great bouts of lightning fills the skies over Stockholm. Gods will or not, the Swedish Empire disappeared forever. This is the story of what happened when the great and mighty Empire of Sweden appeared in the world of Equestria.
AC: After many sleepless nights, I've finally decided to do this fic. This fic was inspired by "Liberté, égalité, fraternité." If you haven't read it, I strongly suggest that you do. It's a very good fic!
Also, there might be some historical inaccuracies, but I'm trying to make it as historically as possible. Some characters are created by me, but many of the ships, cities, armies and characters are historical.
Please, excuse any spelling mistakes or strange grammar. English is not my first language, but I'm trying my best to make it presentable. I'm Swedish, as you probably could guess from this fic ;P

Interesting. Ever read Eric Flint's 1632/Ring of Fire 'verse? I've often wondered how actual Swedes (Gustav II Adolphus gets to be the big good of "downtime") or Germans (A west virginia coal mining town is dropped into 1631 Germany, inside territory theoretically held by the Lion of the North's German allies.)

While Sweden is an interesting choice, I prefer empires such as Germany (under Frederick the Great), Russia (under Peter the Great), or even Japan (I completely forgot the name of the Emperor I was going to mention).

7326260 The Caroleans were not so much an army as it was a way of organizing. During the year 1700, regulations and tactics had begun to develop to form into what we know as Caroleans, but they were far from finished. Tactics such as "Gå-På" were implemented around the turn of the century, but were not yet finalized. The first real evidence that shows it is from 1694, but we don't know if it was used. The first time we have historical document of it's actual use was from what I could gather at the battle of Narva in 1700, which is after Sweden is transported. I am going to use the liberty to actually use the tactic in the story, since it must've been worked out before this.
Like I've said before, it's extremely difficult to find historical records and dates of some of these things. Heh, biggest challange of writing this is finding out historical info. (You have NO idea how hard it was to find accurate fleet information!)
