I'm a science-fiction and fantasy buff, creator of the Chakat Universe, and now dabbling in the MLP:FiM universe. I love a good story!

Five of the youth of House Path are abruptly whisked away by the enigmatic Doctor Whooves, and they find themselves in a Ponyville that they can scarcely recognize. A tyrant queen rules Equestria, alliances were never forged with Griffonia and the Changeling Hives, and three of the group had never been born! Someone has changed history, and it's up to them to figure out when, how, and who did it, or Equestria will suffer, and the rest of the world along with it.

This is the direct sequel to "The Growing Years" and "A Different Perspective", and I advise reading those stories first.

So green is cheeselegs, Purple is the Black Snooty. But who is cyan?

Also the main cast still doesn't know what exactly was changed, just the when. This is going to be good.

Well this is cool, I can't wait to see what's next!

okay here are my thoughts.

DAMN Twilight.

Also guessing insanity prevented Twilight from using Starswil's spell and the map to go back and prevent their deaths.

Also I get the feeling that what ever merged with Chryssy merged with Twilight after chryssy's death.

I wonder what happened to Cogs family?

this is going to be interesting.

....and here's where I get off the ride.
Everything after 'Conversations' has just gotten increasingly bizarre and tedious to read, as Goldy (bless him) has slowly succumbed to the siren's call of bland recycled adventure tales.
Lots of folk seem to enjoy that but I lack the ability to do so.

Have fun, take care and see you around some other horsewords.

Seems like an interesting story to start out with so far. I hope you'll be able to pull off time-travel shenanigans properly, or this could be a terrible sequel. You've always written good stories though, so I'll have faith that you won't get trapped in some odd retconning kinda stuff.

Funnily enough, I finished The Growing Years just a day before this since I wasn't notified about it. I don't know why as I am following you.

7200416 my guess is cyan is both of them combine.

Anyway, great chapter.

Have to agree, things taken quite the twists and turns into the Bizarre, though I don't jump the wagon quite yet. :trixieshiftleft:
I'll slap a: nonsense, sign on the expectation list and go enjoy the rest of the story for what it is. :derpyderp2:
As for the siren, well, clichés are there for a reason, and they can be recycled well as well as off.

Well, see you around

Heh, already love this. I know this is going to be good, so... Fav!

It became apparently that much covert reconstruction had been done,

So green is cheeselegs, Purple is the Black Snooty. But who is cyan?

The Humble & Apologetic TRIXIE! :trixieshiftleft:

Or maybe some other player. Hard to say.

So I finally got to reading this!

Chrysalis... what have you done.

Yes, everyone did suffer, but was it worth even your own absolute annihilation?
Then again, she might have survived. Who knows what power was involved.

So, a fight scene early in the story, and late in the chapter. Fun times.

Also, it has to be really hard for the kids to see their mother fallen so low.
Or it can motivate them to such an extent that we won't be able to even.

This is going to have a lot of twists and turns, isn't it? Back to the adventuring style fics instead of a slice of life!

Can't wait for more

Huh, a single moment to fix things for the worst.

Now who is being naughty warning Chrysalis.

Wow. Talk about a butterfly effect. Can't wait for the next chapter. Keep up the good work.

New paradox created though. there is now two groups of timetravelers and if they succeed what will their past selves do.

Theory: before things are done, there will be enough iterations of the kids running around to win the battle all by themselves. Having restored harmony to the time force, the paradoxical iterations will then travel the time stream, observing and making certain that history happens. Sort of a combination of Terry Pratchett's History Monks and Leo Frankowski.

It's only a theory.

I feel bad for the changelings whom soul were stolen.

It would be quite a short story if they succeeded this early, wouldn't it?
Still, PTSD fuel for a few of them.

I wonder if they'll undergo a memory wipe when they finally manage to correct the timeline.

:twilightoops:I just love how the Doctor "fixes" those messed-up timelines:
All that "wibbley-wobbley-timey-whimey--stuff" is like a plate full of spaghetti noddles ... and the Doctor's method is to shove a high-speed blender into the mass and hope a single, intact timeline comes out of the result:rainbowderp:

Well, since they can't ID the one who sent the warning, and there's probably no way to block such a message, the only solution guaranteed to work is to use the "cry wolf" tactic against the enemy:
Wait for Free and Chrysalis to start fighting, and as soon as they do, have Pif start broadcasting the same message to Chrysalis over and over all through the fight in such a way that the calls become a useless distraction and she ends up ignoring the enemy's real call when Free's teleport actually happens.

so does this mean that the growing years stoy is finished ? ps i have not read this yet

7255725 The Growing Years arc is complete, although the story is still marked as incomplete. I have left it open in case I think of a one-shot that fits in that time period that doesn't affect the main story, but I don't want to create another separate story for. I'll review this decision later. Please read it before reading Quantum Gallop.

7256021 Wow, Thanks a lot for that information and i think that i have like 5 chapters left so this story sounds fun to read.

I look forward to reading it!:pinkiehappy:

So with the Blue, Pif, Lucidia, Destined and Cinder going back in time to set things right. Does that mean that they'll have been there originally? Just in the background?

To answer that question in any way would constitute spoilers. You might get the answer in the next chapter.... maybe. :applejackconfused:

Who the hell is manipulating the Time Line?

He he he. Some might find time travel confusing but it is one thing I ponder on a daily basis and I've yet to get confused by what is going on. Loving this one.

Wibbly-Wobbly Timey-Wimey... stuff. :derpytongue2:

Anyways, New Party Member has joined the group! Doo-Dee-Doo!

Well that happened. I can't wait to see which event our evil queen is going to change next!

I thought it was pretty clear.

“Your words you should choose with greater care, lest I have no time for the nightmare.”

(Emphasis mine.)

Aw, so there's a cute little Red Path nymph, but still no Luna foal? Come on!

Aw, so there's a cute little Red Path nymph, but still no Luna foal? Come on!

Patience! Luna's been waiting for centuries. You can wait a little longer. :raritywink:

Well, that was one disaster averted.
And only had to redo it once. Good score!
At least it isn't Dark Souls-esque where you die a over a thousand times before you get anywhere :rainbowlaugh:

So, history has changed slightly, but no major deviations. That's good.

Also, new companion! Once Citrine properly learns to control her abilities, she'll kick ass. All the ass. And then probably munch on some :rainbowlaugh:

Also also, those snippets at the beginning of chapters are very intriguing. We all have an inkling, but ultimately are still in the dark.

The culprit is not caught, so there will be more. Afterall, this would still be a way too short story if it all resolved now.
Onwards to another event!

An excellent chapter! It answered a lot of questions and brought up new ones for us readers to await the answers to.

Two parts stood out immediately as I was reading them.

Destined’s cheeks were beginning to glow almost as red as his mane. “I was just a foal then. Besides, I asked Auntie Celestia to rescind the title later, but she wouldn’t. ‘Once a Prince or Princess of Equestria, always a Prince or Princess, she told me.”

Nice quote based off the 'Once a King or Queen of Narnia, always a King or Queen' quote of Aslan from "The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe" by C.S. Lewis!

Citrine was loving it. She was fighting with more power and strength than she had ever known before, reinforced by the power of the changeling princess within her. Instinctively, she used her power to form long and wickedly sharp blades extending from her forehooves, and she tore into the thick of the fighting, mercilessly mowing down her foes.

Congratulations! Your Citrine has evolved into Wolverine!

So up next on the block, Chrysalis's attempts at swaying Pif, or does she go back and change a none changeling event? Inciting trouble against House Path amoungst the griffons maybe.

It's time to recruit Captain Johnathan Archer--The Temporal Cold War has begun!:rainbowdetermined2:

That picture of a Crystal Pony bad ass whacking a Changeling with a chair. :rainbowdetermined2:

So how far down the alphabet do you guys think they'll get before finding a way to definitely deal with this timy mess?

I thought they had screwed up time when Fifi was introduced, don't remember her being a thing.

7283064 And what about Free and Twilight, hm? Seems like the perfect time for them to try for a foal of their own... *hinthint*

7296191 Just a hint - Wandering Path.

I KNEW IT! The purple bitch is Nightmare Moon, or at least something like her.

Wait a minnit....
I don't remember any mention of a red hive nymph before. When did Long Path mate with the red Queen? And why didn't our intrepid time trvellers notice?

I don't remember any mention of a red hive nymph before. When did Long Path mate with the red Queen?

In "The Growing Years" episode "Meetings", Queen Carpacia propositioned Long Path. The actual conception and birth took place before the events of "Quantum Gallop", but did not constitute part of any episode, or at least not so far.

*Reads a chapter* Ah. There it is.

I have the same idea about changelings being able to hold the conciseness of their fellow changelings. pretty good update can't wait to see what else chrysalis tries.

7303064 I had forgotten about that. So that's not something which has been altered by their actions in the past?
