The Umakumo kind of reminds me of a Japanese legend centering around a creature called the Jorogumo, who was a large spider that could transform herself into a beautiful woman to lure in her prey. Can't help but wonder if that's where you got the inspiration from.

Can't remember any words like that, only 'to' or 'wo'. Damn, I studied Japanese about a year ago, and these are some of the basics I should remember...
... You know, I expected Emerald to be in this chapter for several reasons... Or maybe that's just my ego talking since he's my OC and I wish he had more screen time... In any case, I can see a few missed opportunities with him right here. Although, I believe the concern of his gemstone will be addressed shortly, possibly by the other gems leading him to the spring containing Rose's tears.

And I imagine a living gemstone would make a pretty rare prize that just about any self respecting dragon would want in his or her hoard.

Quick question, is the Cluster still an issue in these stories? Because I would imagine that a giant mass of gem shards buried in the Earths crust, threatening to take form at any given moment would be a pretty big issue.
I can just picture Yellow Diamond sending the following message.
Hello puny organics and traitorous gems. At first I did not see the necessity of this message seeing as how I despise Earth and all it represents, but since we are on somewhat good terms at the moment I felt obligated to inform you of the massive forced fusion buried a few kilometers under your planets surface. Given how long it has been since it was created, it should emerge very soon, no more than a few months time, effectively destroying every shred of life on the planet. Ask Peridot if you need to know anything else.

It took me a few times to realize there wasn't two Pinkie Pies while reading this. This could have been avoided if written a bit differently. Just making sure you're aware that this part could be misinterpreted like that. Otherwise it was an enjoyable read.
