I almost feel like there's an episode about a background character having hidden depths, but the show hasn't really done anything like that. Of course, Twilight tries to railroad everyone here and just gets humiliated in the process for it.
Seems to me they should have slingshotted the comet into the sun, if that was possible. The 'eh, maybe it'll end up being some other planet's problem' attitude of Dr Whooves is horrible. At least in the sun the comet would be vaporised.
Well, that was an OK short fic. The whole Flash Sentry subplot should have been scrapped though. It doesn't really ad anything to the plot, and feels more like a 'take-that' aside at his character.
