In the Sombra timeline, Twilight Sparkle has failed her entrance test trying to open up Spikes dragon egg. distraught that her dreams were dashed and that harmonious magic had failed her, she concludes that disharmonious magic might be to her liking
Um... I think the order is missing something that might be important. Namely where is Spike? I mean a small baby fire breathing, scales hard enough to deflect arrows, bones hard enough to take multiple blows without breaking, razor sharp claws, and a mouth full of teeth that can chew up diamonds, and was just violently woken up dragon who loves his big sister Twilight and most likely saw her getting attacked and beaten up by these three might be important.
Oh. An update. Good I'm over this story already... oh, wait, except I'M FUCKING NOT, oh my god, yesyesyesyesyesyes, Commence another reread in three, two, one...
8023291 Many reptilians are born with very strong fight or flight instincts and will lash out when provoked. (Celestia made sure he was raised in an environment that didn't set them off.) Add to that an obvious bonding instinct that fixated on Twilight and she is the most important thing to him in a stressful situation that is perfect for triggering those instincts. He might be an infant, but nature is not very nice and one of these three are more than likely to try and pick up a baby and get a face full of flames or a severed limb or a ripped out throat if they notice him. If they don't notice him the bindings on Twilight are just so much shredded strings because of his claws. Spike is a problem for them no matter which way it goes. Can't wait to see what happens.
while checking for story updates find a new chapter of this. ITS ALIVE ITS ALIVE!!!!!!!!! Also the order of the sun interests me basically being the Good guy while Twilight is evillllllll. They thought Catrina corrupted her but if fact it is she who controls Catrina. RIP order of the sun or at least those three.
8024337 I have a buddy who does editing sometimes. I'll have him take a look at the fic after my initial edit to give it some more polish. Thanks again!
Logically you would be totally correct, she would definitely have safeguards against dark magic in her castle. However I think we've both seen the Princesses kidnapped enough too know that ponies have grown quite lax about the defense of their nation over the millennia. Part of that reason is due to the fact they have the trump card that is the Tree of Harmony and its elements. When Celestia wielded them, she didn't NEED other defenses. It was like sitting at a proverbial poker table with a permanent royal flush at all times. After she had lost access too the elements with the whole nightmare moon debacle, she never really filled in that loss of her trump card with something else. In other words, Equestria is a lot more vulnerable than the rest of the world is aware of.
In reference to Catrina
Trust me she didn't go as unnoticed as she thinks.
Thank you for your analysis and the pm! Sorry for such a late reply, but life has a way of getting in the way of fun stuff.
8024805 Well, it can still be argued that trump card of Element's level and fail safes against theft/breaking in/what will you are a different thing and should function separately, but I'll let this one pass, I guess.
That being said, It's not what I meant about Catrina. I didn't mean a dedicated organization, like Order of the Sun tracking, but rather common folk having stories about ageless cat going around. You made it pretty clear that she's an oddity, so even say, three hundreds of years later there should be stories about her in the place she lived. Coupled with Twilight being able to trace her through ye olde scrolls, i.e. area where she lives being reasonably small, it comes off as a little weird, albeit justifiable.
It's okay, I don't really mind the wait, long as it pays off
welp, goodbye order of the sun, and thanks for all the fish.

8023284 Spike's still an infant right now. Remember, Twilight is still very young at this point in the story.

8023379 Without spoiling anything, expect fun things to happen next chapter.
And thus the world was set afire, rightfully so
8023398 So long as we don't have to wait an entire year for it...

I'm glad that this updated, but I'm kind of dreading how long the next update is going to take.
I was more excited than I'd like to admit when I saw this updated. Hoping the next chapter comes soon.
Thanks for the update! I cna't wait to get immersed into another evil protag fic.
Well those three are goners whenever Twilight wakes up.
YES! It lives! Can't wait to read.
It's not really bad, but this definitely needs a serious edit.
Will be reading on though, the premise is rather neat.

Such power... glad to see this continueing!
far too
The filly
And of course another idiot who has the central character lose, quite horribly at that.
Not bad Twilight just work on that focus of yours and you'll be golden.
Great chapter and a good fight, glad to see that Twi isn't an omnipotent deity right at the start and is still a rookie (but a very promising one ^^)!
