Chapter 3: Private Treasures
Sweetie Belle wiped a tear as Sour Sweet finished her story. “Wow, Sour Sweet. That was beautiful. I hope I can experience what you have someday.”
“Yeah, Ah wouldn’t mind havin’ a relationship, mahself,” Apple Bloom admitted. She then grew a sly smirk. “And then we would just need ta get Scootaloo ta admit her romantic feelin’s fer Rainbow Dash and all three Crusaders would have special somebodies!”
Scootaloo threw her arms up. “HEY! I do NOT have romantic feelings for Rainbow Dash! It’s purely idol worship and nothing else!”
Sweetie Belle went over and placed a sympathetic hand upon Scootaloo’s shoulder. “It’s okay, Scoots. We’ll love you no matter what your sexual orientation turns out to be.”
Scootaloo blushed and rolled her eyes. “Aw shut up, you guys! Now, come on! Do we or don’t we have a fan film to make here?”
Sour Sweet chuckled and lugged the Ahuizotl mask back over her head.

After a long day of amateurish filmmaking that would make Ed Wood proud, Sour Sweet returned home. She had had a smile plastered on her face ever since she told her story to the Crusaders. Verbally reliving that night only made her want more. She wanted to relive it visually and tangibly as well.
She entered her room and went straight over to the dresser next to her bed. Inside the top drawer, she stored her most personal possessions. She opened it. Right next to her container of birth control pills and a framed crayon drawing of a little girl who she hoped to see again one day, was a red, pocket-sized booklet containing The Communist Manifesto.
She picked up and opened it to reveal the photos nestled within the pages: the photo booth strip and a copy of her mother's snapshot of the first kiss she had with the love of her life. Sour Sweet sighed contently, closed it back up, and held it out to bask in the memories.
“Does that say ‘The Communist Manifesto’?”
Sour Sweet jumped and turned to see her mother standing at her door.
“Mom, i-it’s not what it looks like!”
Mrs. Sweet went over and placed a sympathetic hand upon her daughter’s shoulder. “It’s okay, honey. I’ll love you no matter what your political orientation turns out to be.”

Aw its cute.. Kinda wish it was longer tho, especially in post-Italian dinner scenes. Telling us about the photos and the restarted date is nice, but I wish you showed whats truly been exchanged between these two lovebirds. Ah young love..

Just remember her behavior is due to a mood swing, which she is shown to regret and the boyfriend totally understands that she can't help it.
In the Equestria Girls universe they are Freshmen, which would make them around 15. Also, Button Mash didn't really ask her on a serious date. Sweetie only wishes it was one.
Incidentally, my mom was actually 12 when she first met my dad. Married 36 years now with three children.

I love you for making these stories of Sour Sweet, they're really sweet. You make me smile with their shenanigans and romantic, sometimes hoity-toity, moments. It warms my heart that she's getting better and that she has someone that loves, and understands, her with all his heart despite her illness.

My method is quite simple, really. Firstly, I start writing a bunch of crap ( often weird crap ), hoping to God that I can somehow make it plausible and heartwarming by the end. Secondly, I submit. Thirdly and lastly, I sit back in utter shock and confusion as bronies tell me how amazing it is

Well, color me impressed. Second-person perspective has some heavy stigma attached to it, but you definitely make it work. The realistic, respectful approach to Sour Sweet's mental condition also helps. The perspective character himself is still rather underdeveloped, but you have me looking forward to future installments of this saga.

That will have to be a permanent flaw, I'm afraid. As I have explained to others, I feel that Sour's struggle with her condition should be the focus, not the self-insert boyfriend. In hindsight, I probably should have made her date a canon character, but I honestly never thought I would end up writing a popular extended series when I submitted the original story, Sour 'n Sweet 'n Pretty four months ago. Life is funny.

I've mentioned that I love this little anthology before, right? Oh well, just in case, I love this little anthology. It's kinda funny how well Sour actually gets along with the CMC, but that's great in itself. Then the drawing of Bitter made the tears come back again.
Kinda hoping we get tour see the boyfriend screw up a bit in the future. So far he's the "Nice Guy," which is good for developing Sour's story further, since she's the main focus. But I would like to see the reaction when he messes up a little instead of her condition warping her thoughts from something minor like in Sour Sweet Gesture.

If the boyfriend was a real character then I would definitely put mistakes in, however he's supposed to be a self-insert. I wouldn't want to write anything that would make anybody go, "Hey, I wouldn't do that to poor Sour Sweet! This sucks!"

Sour Sweet treasures the (responsible) physical intimacy she gets to have with the love of her life, especially since it took her so long to overcome the anxiety to go through with it. Also because one day she hopes to get off birth control in order to add some "Bitterness" to her life.
Incidentally, the story that I'm currently writing right now is going to add a lot more to this desire-for-family theme. Turns out it's contagious
