Across Equestria, there's one event that even the least sociable ponies look forward to: The Grand Galloping Gala! A magical night of music, dancing, meeting nobility, an other fairy-tale wonders...
And now Twilight, Number One Assistant to Equestria's Element of Magic, finally has her chance to go! The invitations have been sent, and of course Ponyville's six newest heroes made the guest list, Spike included! And there's no way that he wouldn't bring his oldest friend along as his "Plus One", right?
Well, even if that were to happen, there's still five other ponies with tickets in town...

Excellent job on the exchanges, emotional content, humor and future chapter set-up in all the right places. Also great job on the explanation for certain details. I'm going to hazard a guess that Big Mac's "plus one" is going to be Apple Bloom (since he would figure Applejack should stay behind to mind the farm and watch over Granny Smith). That still leaves Cheerilee and Time Turner, though. At any rate, I'll definitely be looking forward to more of this as soon as time and inspiration will allow.
For some reason, I'm expecting Cheerilee to ultimately end up taking her. That would be cute.
Knew from the moment I went into the fic that Spike had already asked Rarity, but then again, that wasn't exactly hard to predict, was it?
Well, let's see how it goes with the other members of the Flipped 6. Certainly there will be complications with them as well, or else there wouldn't be a story, but that's where it gets fun.
Aww, its so nice how much Spike and Twilight love each other, he's ready to put off his crush on Rarity to let Twilight go to the gala and she's willing to give up on the gala so he gets to be with Twilight.
My prediction of the story: -
Cheerilee makes her plus one invite the prize for the book report. Rumble wins and either doesn't need it because Thunderlane takes him or doesn't want to go so he gives his ticket to Twilight. Twilight might get a little heartbroken if Time Turner is taking somepony else though.
Oh gosh, this is a killer opening. ^^ The anticipation, the feels, I love it! Really looking forward to more of this, assuming Twilight doesn't murder me with her adorableness.

Have we previously established that Twi's got a crush (of sorts) on Time Turner? I don't seem to recall that coming up before, but then again it's been awhile since I read the first entry in the Flipverse, and the last story with Trixie didn't really have the scene set up to go into depth on the matter (that I recall), so maybe I'm just not remembering...
I see Thunderlane's already discovered the fame that comes with having a gala ticket.
Somehow doubt he's got a spot for a plus one still available at this point though, and probably wouldn't appreciate Twi asking regardless as no doubt he's already been asked that repeatedly by this point, and yet I somehow doubt he's going to want to surrender his own ticket either. Suppose we'll see.

It may not have actually come up in the story, but rather in forum brainstorming discussions afterward... Flip!Spike and Rarity's relationship parallels the general canon, and it was suggested that Flip!Twilight and Time Turner could make an interesting Beta that parallels and deconstructs other aspects of the relationship between Element of Generosity and The Dragon. Gotta love literary foils, especially when they're as adorkable as Twilight.

I tried to do some very subtle hints back in Flipside that Twilight might develop an attraction to Time Turner (even before the idea was mentioned in the forums), but this is the first fic where I'm really taking a chance to develop the idea.

Awww! Twilights crush on TT is sweet, although like M-verse Spike I can see her getting her heart broken sooner or later. I don't think he's figured out her feeling yet, he'll probably have to let her down gentle at some point.
Imagining the flipverse equivalent to the Spike Gets Huge And Greedy episode (the name of which escapes me currently) with Twi and Time Turner makes me giggle a little bit. Pretty cute overall.

And dragon!Twi got me thinking, would you ever be interested in exploring The Gauntlet of Fire in this verse? I can't remember if you ever said you were gonna jump around the timeline or even if the events would match up in the same way.

There's a lot of episodes I'd like to explore in this verse, but my mind and writing style work best by going forward and in order.
Now, since it is an AU and the show has a very episodic nature, there's some room for flexibility (like Trixie showing up waaaaay earlier than she did in canon). I also love playing with ideas of how major canonical events (like Discord's escape or Sunset Shimmer's theft of the elements) could change with it being Spike and his friends as the mane cast instead of Twilight and the Remane Five. I just prefer to actually write these events out in chronological order (or something akin to it) because it's easier for me to keep track of everything that way.
Seeing as Gauntlet of Fire didn't happen until after Twilight's ascension (and that event itself took place nearly one year after Twilight moved to Ponyville), I have a ton of other stories I can tell before we get to that same point in Flipverse's timeline.

Entertained the idea, particularly a displacement fic where Canon! Twilight and Flip! Twilight wind up in each other's bodies and universes.
Nothing concrete yet, and it's unlikely I'd make it canon to the actual events for the verse, but it'd be a fun little side project once more of the Flipverse has actually been written and established.

She unknowingly did herself and Spike a favor (considering how lame and dull the Gala actually IS). Huh, in most stories, this usually leads to a verbal spar that leaves one of them in tears and takes a couple chapters for the other character to get our of their guilt and apologize. You wrapped it up much sooner and in a believable way. Nice.
I do love this twist on this trope and it was very telling of how close they are to each other. Great job.

In the original episode, Spike (in denial) claimed that he didn't want to go, and Celestia sent him a ticket anyway. In a perfect Flip!Equestria, Spike would take Rarity and Celestia would send Twilight her own ticket plus a guest, and we'd end on a funny cliffhanger over who she's going to invite now.
Probably won't turn out that way, though... the right thing for Twilight to do would be to let Spike go with Rarity, even if it means that she can't, Opposite of dragon greed and all...

Though, I admit that the alternate idea of Twilight then having to go on a mad chase to get the ticket back and correct the mess before anypony noticed could been lots of fun.
