I wasn't enjoying this story at first, but then it got bizarrely epic and large scale.

I wonder whose dream Luna was looking into. She did look at the wall separating her room from Celestia's, but that can be explained by the presence of a bearded Celestia in the dream.

I didn't even look at the tags, but this was the weirdest and most backwards clop story I have ever read.
This piece is actually a masterfully crafted work of social commentary. Celestia's growing beard represents the increasing awareness of cultural intolerance spurned on by the pursuit of knowledge (the attraction towards Twilight). This work of art eventually culminates in the scene wherein Twilight climbs into Celestia's beard, signifying ultimate enlightenment and a shift towards a higher state of existence.
