Stories set in the Oversaturated World, some silly, some less so.
"Wait," said Sunset. "You're saying Old Holly Hooves isn't real?!"
Her friends all looked at her strangely.
"...Well. Yes." Twilight nodded. "I mean, it's scientifically... I guess not impossible, strictly speaking, but—"
"I put up a stocking every year! I've been doing it since I was a filly! And every year, it's been filled!"
"Generally it's the parents that—"
"Every year, Twilight! Including the ones I was here!" Sunset shrugged. "Granted, I tended to get coal, but I assumed that was just a quirk of this reality."
"...oooooookay. That's... actually kind of weird."
"Hey," Pinkie spoke up. "If you're kind of omnipresent, can't you just, I dunno, go find Old Holly Hooves yourself and ask him if he's real?"
Sunset blinked. "Well... maybe? He's probably busy around this time of year, though. I'll just wait till summer."
From the thread:
FanOfMostEverything: I love the idea of Sunset putting up a stocking even during her less pleasant phase, but would the human world still have a reindeer running things?
Masterweaver: This is one of those things I don't want to answer because it's funnier that way.

This may be the greatest thing I've ever read.
Hey, when your world is in a low-mana state, I'm betting magical beings tend to hide themselves away from the mundane to gather their strength until that one Significant Day comes along to do their works.
Like kids waiting for Santa. :)
Possible grandfather paradox: They find that Old Holly Hooves isn't real and the only way to resolve this is for them to use the Starswirl Equations to go back in time and ensure that Sunset's stockings are filled.
I like that Sunset decided to wait until summer, bothering the spirit of such a important holiday when he is busy isn't very wise.
Here's the rationalization of a friend of mine:
If the multiverse is truly infinite, then in some universes, there's a Santa Claus. Going further, at least one of these Santas is also capable of travelling between universes like a Planeswalker.
Ergo, Santa's real, he's just not local.
I think that's the job of the Santa Corps these days.
you know if santa exsits in this world now.....
.......so does krampus.......
Santa, as we know him, appeared in 1823. Before turning into an elf and moving to the north pole, he was known as Saint Nicholas, a little-known but locally loved bishop in a town named Myra, in what is now part of Turkey. Do we really want the elf Santa to be real? Elves are fae, after all.

Santa appears to have developed a sort of agrarian lifestyle, harvesting enough anticipation and joy every Christmas to last him through the year.
Of course, I say "appears." His helpers are usually portrayed with childlike proportions, and we all know what the fae do with children...

Patron saint of prostitutes, and I remember reading something about how he's associated with boxing somehow? Honestly, the accurate Saint Nick would be seriously cool to see in any world.

I find myself partial to North from the movie Rise of the Guardians.
I think maybe the coal was less a quirk of this reality, and more because you were naughty. Come on Sunset, this is the basics.
Well, at least where I'm from. Maybe it works different here.

I like it. It fits well with my idea that he is only responsible for some of the gifts, especially for those who wouldn't get much without him.

That was a great movie.
