I think it's a great start for a story, I like the exposition you made of the different characters that don't even have anything to do with the humans that will be arriving, and sum up the pony's financial predicament. Is this story part of the Equestrian Landing world?

More of a spin off, but it is set in the Equestrian Landing world. These stories are not a part of the main plot, but are set in the same world.
So a one shot character runs into a down on his luck earth pony. I would say this ends in friendship, but you have thrown out a few minor clues in the other story before that made us think one thing only to have them show us we were wrong.
He was a filly? So he essentially had a reverse of Bronze's case?
Not that bad of a chapter but you may want to try a new story or get the next Equestrian Landing chapter out.
