Remorse is a noun; I think the adjective you meant to use was morose. Morose basically means depressed or ill-tempered.
The pacing was a too fast during the climax of the story. It's a short span of time in the story, but given the emotional weight of the scene, it should have gotten some extra detail to better convey its significance. Aside from that, the story overall was alright.
