A writer by hobby, a pony fan by heart.

A little tidbit of a story written for a patron of our works, Alondro, loosely connected to his own writings.

I do hope you enjoy it, short as it may be.

Oh yes indeed. This fits the slowly marinating concepts that will form my story PERFECTLY!

And someday, eventually, I hope to craft the trilogy that will lead to the changelings' salvation... but, oh my, the effort that's going to entail. I consider all the plot developments and retellings I must make and whimper.

At the speed I write, even when I have the time to put in the proper consideration, I may complete the entire set of works just before the Sun begins to swell into a red giant... :twilightoops:

Eh, you still live?

I'll get reading then.

Yup, I loved it!

Probably the fact that he saw his sneaking efforts as leading toward a punchline was my favorite bit.

Discord: even his intentions of goodwill are mentally processed through his pranking engram!

Why on earth would the changelings want salvation?

7061106 Now why would I spill that little tidbit, which is the crux of the development of their race's entire story?

I can barely keep the whole thing straight in my head! I've written something like 20 pages just of basic outline and critical plot points for the trilogy, of which my changeling origin story would eventually be the prologue to the second part.

It's clearly going to end up being a TITANIC effort... which I can only hope won't sink on it's maiden voyage after striking a massive writer's block. I tend to get those when I attempt large stories because my thoughts start going in a hundred different directions, trying to follow every possible path the story can take. :twilightsheepish:

I will let it drop if you answer one question:
Are your changelings at all like the "Of The Hive" changelings?

7060573 I'm vey much glad that you enjoyed it! I suppose my goal of short and sweet was realised.

VINDICATION!

7061102 And yes, I do still breathe, though suffering from a wounded hand.

In any case, glad you liked this little piece, friend!

7061276 I dunno. I only read a part of that story. It lost me with the Twiling weirdness it devolved into. Never cared enough to find out anymore.

Note: I read the epilogue to that story a few minutes ago... now I'm even more glad I didn't bother reading further. Chrysalis throws darts at a picture of Celestia and gloats generally about "ALL DA POWAH SHALL BE MINES!! BWAH HA HA!!" The writer actually threw in that terrible, ill-fitting dart board enemy cliché... and then topped it off with the most generic sequel-bait crap (un)imaginable.

Dear god, why the hell is that trope-ridden piece of schlock rated so highly?

Tropes sell. :coolphoto:

Plus it made a few interesting bits of changeling lore.

7062046 Maybe it had some 'bits' here and there, I wouldn't know.

The problem is, I would have to muddle through the rest.

It's not enough to have pieces of a story that work; the WHOLE story must be good.

If i did not know how usefully busy your life is, i would shame you for such stringent standards.

How much of this standard for "good" is comprised of your own favorite tropes?

7063511 If you looked at my list of favorites, you'd find little relating the stories.

There are zany comedies and farces, adventure dramas, slice of life, short stories, long epics, several science fiction crossovers, dramas... in essence, every possible genre... except shipfics. Those tend to be so lazy and feeble in character design that I refuse to spend the weeks I'd need wading through the twaddle to find the diamond in the rough.

The few pure romances in my favorites began very early on in the fandom and were from authors I'd already known were talented writers for other works.

I've read many hundreds of stories in my time. Those I enjoy have only this in common: the majority follow all the things I learned are rules of writing when I entered my literature and drama classes in high school and college.

Despite being a major in science, I paid attention to EVERYTHING I ever learned and put it to practice.

Ah, and speaking of that, my changeling origin story is about half-complete, I believe. I'm not going to post the first chapter until it's done and I've reviewed it to make sure it flows smoothly. It's the first seriously story I've written in about 6 years, so I want to take my time re-learning the rusty skills.
