Aegis Shield

Priceless. I can just see Twilight in all her scholarly fervor nearly rivaling Pinkie Pie on a sedate day as she zips from display to display. Probably a good thing that Spike declined to come along, or she'd have had saddlebags full of notes, and her poor assistant would have had claw cramp by the time she got to Spartan Shield's display. And then we get to Spartan Shield and her innocent damage of the "statue." That is just soooo Twilight, it can't be believed. About the only other pony in the Mane 6 that I could see pulling off that reaction would be Rainbow Dash, and we both know that Dash wouldn't be caught dead within a mile of a museum... well, unless it was dedicated to the Wonderbolts, anyway. :rainbowhuh:

I'm guessing that the restoration spell Twilight used was a relatively new spell construct, as I can't see any reason otherwise why Celestia wouldn't have applied that spell after the battle to attempt to save as many of Nightmare Moon's victims as possible. (Or at least, I find it hard to believe that Spartan was the only stallion hit by that particular bit of magic in the midst of a full-on conflict.) Still, as a preservative spell, it looks like it did a bangup job. I've read a bit on Sparta myself, though it was back in college for one of my classes, so I have a reasonable idea of the sort of mindset that Spartan Shield is handling. All I can say for now is that Twilight's going to have her hooves full shepherding her new guest into understanding Equestria as it is today. I suppose that his linguistics are up to date as a side effect of Twilight's spell and her tendency to go overboard on juicing it up when she's not completely calm. Otherwise, I would've expected at the least a tendency towards something similar to Luna's anachronisms in his speech.

Now, if Twilight can just remember her own studies about ancient cultures and remember just how males and females related in Spartan's culture, or at least the Grecian cultures in general of that time, she'll probably avoid a host of problems for herself. (But then, if that were the case, this story would be a lot shorter and we'd lose a lot of chances to laugh at the situations our "Solar-powered mage" is going to be creating for herself while dealing with the sort of faux pas that a warrior fresh from the Nightmare War will be making as they go to meet Celestia. (For instance, I really don't want to think about what's likely to happen if it's not a school day, and they happen to pass a group of colts playing at guards and changelings, since you know that there are bound to be a few lunar guard costumes in the lot.)

Awesome. Can't say much more than that. That's just...awesome. Pure badtothebone awesome.

Let's see what happens next. :pinkiehappy:

Twilight a whore. :trollestia:

Oh yes.
I was not disappointed.
There were a great many good quotes in this chapter. I think my favorites were "alleyway tail-lifter" and "Thine is a stupid name."

whore make me a samich:rainbowlaugh:

This is going to be...SICK!!!! I can tell, I love this story already and SS is fucking bad ass....damn I can't wait for more. I want to see what happens when Rainbow Dash meets SS....let's get this story on the road!

P.S: Derpy is BOSS!!!

Poor Twilight, being called a whore....this is comandy gold! :rainbowlaugh:

Looking forward to the next part, this is awesome. So many directions this could go in... and all of them funny.

oh dear... talk about culture shock...

Celestia, you will probably flip when this hits your proverbial desk... or rather, you'll be gaping when it strides into your throne room... yes. I'll stick around for this one.

can't wait to see where this is going! :pinkiehappy:

"...Powerful, naked stallions were running..." :rainbowhuh: What? Ponies don't wear clothes to begin with.

“Thine is a stupid name!” :rainbowlaugh: :rainbowlaugh: :rainbowlaugh: :rainbowlaugh:

This is truly an amazing stroy!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love the musem that twilight is in and how adorkable she is
Plus i love how SS talks his vocabularry which includes whore harlot and
his assumtions about twilight about her nuddity-mage solar powers:trollestia::trollestia:

i love this story

Many lol's were to be had from reading this story.

Talk about an amazing piece of work you put together, I can't wait for more Spartan Shield!

The scholar and the warrior, and a Spartan warrior no less. I'm faving this for the description alone!

Spartan that's accurately portrayed (read: as accurate as pony gets anyhow)?

Read it. This fanfic is... AWESOME!

I wanna see what happens when he meets Luna. That should be fun.

cant wait until he runs into a certain princess of the night, or the lunar stallions for that matter. Running into his mortal foes from a thousand years ago ........ let us just say that " hilarity ensues" wont even begin to cover it!

Never thought I'd laugh at Twilight being called a whore. Never thought Twilight would be called a whore. Somewhat unhappy that Rome, Greece, and Crete aren't ponified, but whatever.

signed the good dr.

745995 Yeah, its hard to Ponify single-syllable words and have them still resemble their original meaning. Ah well. :trollestia:

Tracking the heck out of this! :pinkiehappy: I am loving this so far.

Fell out of my bloody chair when he called her a "Whore". NEVER thought Id ever see that happening.

Roan. Fleece. Bleat.

Honestly, its too easy to make farm puns.

A pony based off of one the most militaristic groups in history going to the most peaceful and child friendly places of all time. The oil is ready, all it takes is for the match to reach out and touch it to set it off

Molestia: "Twilight a whore" :rainbowlaugh:

Tail-lifter. I got to use that some time :rainbowkiss:. He could have also called her strumpet. :rainbowlaugh:

I can only imagine him meeting Spike. "Have at thee, foul Tartarus-spawned lizard! Fight wretched beast!" :rainbowlaugh:

if he gets bored he can go hang out in everfree, slay a manticore or two :3

I can only imagine the kind of chaos Spartan Shield will bring to Ponyville, Discord would be pleased!

Keep it up!

Shield and Dash are going to get along like a house on fire. Of course the first time he meets Fluttershy should be interesting as well.

HAhahahahahaa he called Twilight a whore hahahaha:rainbowlaugh::rainbowlaugh::rainbowlaugh::rainbowlaugh:
But sorry I have to say this SPARTAN'S WHAT IS YOUR PROFECTION!
HAWOOO HAWOOO HAWOOO:flutterrage::flutterrage::flutterrage::flutterrage:

747927 Killing manticores... not recommended with Fluttershy around. Once she's done mourning, no amount of spartan training can save him. :fluttercry: :fluttershyouch: :flutterrage:

Serious shit is to be wrecked here this day XD

You wish a Spartan to live as an Athenian?
This shall not end well.

Ah, Aegis wrote a new story.
Step 1: Clean the: OMG IM SO HAPPY off my face
Step 2: Favourite
Step 3: Read the story
Step 4: Fall asleep because it's probabally after midnight by now.

Yeah...this is going to be GRAND A SHIT!!! Can't wait until he meets the other Mane six, Dash is gonig to get along very well with him, maybe even a romance?....maybe. Anyway, this is badass....I love this stroy it's funny as fuck!

interesting... wonder what will happen when he finds out 6 little mares were the ones to actually destroy nightmare moon, and one of the very six is none other then the one who awoke him.... not to mention that luna is now back at the castle.....

“You there!” he wheeled about since Twilight was the closest pony. “Naked harlot!" :rainbowderp::rainbowlaugh:

Yeah, that line just about killed me.

Oh gawd, that was glorious. Can't wait till he meets Dash. :rainbowdetermined2:

749072 :rainbowderp: Wow, I was just thinking that.....

I don't think Celestia would approve of the very popular Spartan practice of killing slaves for fun. Is that going to be mentioned? On the other hand, Spartans treated their women far better than most ancient peoples.

Great, great. I like where this is going. More,I demand.

Mate, I highly doubt that Celestia allowed slavery, let alone freely killing them for sport.
If anything, any "slave labour" was all criminals being forced as part of their sentence.

I'll admit I went into this a bit wary, given that the story could have ended up a messily written comedy, but it was brilliant!. I'm glad I was wrong though, and how Spartan acts around the characters so far and reacts to certain things in the modern day is priceless :rainbowlaugh: Following this, definitely.

752182 Thanks for giving me the benefit of the doubt. That alone makes it all worth it. :pinkiesad2::heart:

749109 Yyyyeah, haha. With the way my job is now, almost all of my writing takes place between Midnight and 2am. Sorry! :twilightsheepish:

Yeah, Spartan women were considered full citizens, could own property and businesses (IIRC the Spartans considered them to be better at business and with money in general than men) and had an equal voice in politics.
