I have exactly one problem with this.

Iron wood type trees don't burn well. at all. the branches and such burn, but the bark acts as a heat resistant sheath. As well as the pine cones, they actually only grow after a forest fire. The heat is what 'activates' the seeds. Yah, forest fires are nothing but good for coniferous forests.

How far ahead in the future is this compared to the original story? It seems like it has been several years with the group of diamond dogs that were not around in the last story and how Daring and Echo are not afraid of showing their relationship in public.
